So, finally, my big monster campaign
"Years of Triumph" has moved into the BAT universe! Which of course is the proper place for it to be! "YOT" can be seen as a show-case for many of the great MODs that has come to grace this wonderful old game of ours, and these are brought together in the ultimate manner in BAT! So this campaign is also a tribute and a big THANK YOU to all talented modders that has used their talent and time to transform IL-2 into the most comprehensive combat flight sim EVER!
“Years of Triumph” is a static campaign, 132 missions long, where the player flies as a Luftwaffe fighter pilot during the years of 1937-1941, using most of the early variants of the famous Messerschmitt Bf 109, from the B2 to the F2. The player will participate in the following sub-campaigns or segments:
• Spanish Civil War 1937
• Invasion of Poland September 1939
• North Sea Battles Autumn of 1939
• Phoney War Winter 1939-40
• Invasion of Holland May 1940
• Battle for France May-June 1940
• Battle of Britain July-October 1940
• Battle over Malta Spring of 1941
• Campaign against Yugoslavia & Greece April 1941
• North African Battles Summer of 1941
• Operation Barbarossa, June to September 1941
• Operation Taifun, October to December 1941
You can download it here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1869The unit you follow is a sort of composite of several German Luftwaffe units. Most missions are based on history. But rather than following the exact doings of a single Geschwader I have tried to give the player a sense of how it could be like to be a Bf 109 pilot during these years. Only historical aircraft and historical maps are used. It follows the actual historical course of the battles portrayed. Note that a couple of the aerial combats are pretty one-sided, in German favour, but this is the early war period, right?
REQUIREMENTS: This campaign has been built with and for BAT, the WAW module.
If you have BAT 3.8.2 you have everything you need!PLAYTESTERS: The work on this campaign has been very much helped by
Whistler, j.vandeinsen, CMW, Crazy G, Flying_H, Gerson and
Lanius - thanks for your GREAT help! And important feed-back has also come from
Vampire Pilot, Marsei13(BG) and
Dikkjo. Thanks!
CONVERSION: Quite invaluable help in converting the campaign to BAT came from
WillyP and
Edc1! Could NOT have done it without you!
SIMPLE BUG FIX: If you find it almost impossible to take off on a certain mission, then it's probably a map glitch. (The map needs the classic Friction Mod by Zuti, that is not compatible with BAT.) I will try to fix this, using invisible runway plates (thanks Vampire Pilot for the tip) but in the meanwhile: use the
auto-pilot to get off the ground!
UPDATE: This campaign has now been updated to version 3.1. This include small fixes, mostly skin adjustments, plus some AI adjustments and the addition of invisible airfield plates to some of the older maps, to make take-off easier.
