I know pretty much nothing (due to me being a newcomer to the IL2 1946 modding world), so if you have information on what I wish to get out of Il2 1946, please share!

I wonder how difficult would it to make il2 1946 Large Address Aware (LAA on short, will use LAA from now on)
so far, the only game which I know of that was meant for x86 and later got a LAA update in order to use more RAM on x86_64 was Arma 2
even then, can't we request the devs to either release the source code for a couple of entrusted modders to recompile it for x86_64 and other platforms (specifically Linux) or for them to take just a little amount of time recompile it by themselves?
like, look at what the Falcon 4.0 community managed to get going on with that source code leak back in the day, imagine what the much more well known and widespread il2 1946 community can do!
example of Falcon BMS footage:

(minute 2:30)
yes, Falcon BMS is a F-16 simulator (that now also has the F-15C as well) which costs what the Falcon 4.0 license costs (since the BMS mod is entirely free), and not at all a WW2 oriented airsim compared with IL2 1946, yet it still shows how far a community of well-envisioned developers and modders can get with passion and available (leaked) source code at their fingertips

we should make an incentive so that the developers will permit only entrusted individuals (with some NDAs if really considered necessary) to review and modify the source code of IL2 1946 in order to permit it to be "unrestricted" hardware-wise, and even make x86_64 versions and update it into the best WW2 airsim on the market!
that and make it even more efficient on XP and comparable systems!

if something similar to this has been done, please tell me, I'm eager to know more about it!
