I did a search for Soundmatrix Unlocker and did not find any reference to it.
Anyway, is it something that needs to be installed?

BSMU allows for the expansion in the variety of weapon sounds, and this mod is made in such a way to work with BSMU if you have BSMU installed. It's not necessary, but for BAT users, I would recommend it.

I also recommend using the "Enhanced by Google" search bar at the bottom... much more reliable results

Hello,

I'm having trouble getting the gun sound to work. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Basically I dropped the "! Gun Sounds" folder into my #WAW3 folder, and didn't hear any difference in the gun sounds.

I'm guessing either the .prs file didn't get picked up, but I don't really know.

I even added a few spaces to the "! Gun Sounds" folder to make sure it stays on top and gets loaded last.

Not sure if this is related, but there are always a few lines of errors like this in my log file, even WITHOUT adding this mod:

Yep. As I have just discovered, when I repackaged the sounds for use with BSMU, I, by some manner of extremely unlucky human error, omitted the presets that the stock game uses.

MASSIVE WHOOPS! The sound mod doesn't work with unmodified gun sound matrices anymore.

I've uploaded a fixed version that has all the requisite presets. Redownload; the new version should work just fine.
