Greetings again, my dears!
It's been yet another hot minute since I last came forth with an update on my audio work. Thankfully, recent developments have given me the time and essentials to keep my creative gears rolling. After a year and a half, I am extremely happy to report
VSM 7.5 is complete!
Designed with WW2 era modpacks specifically in mind, I cranked out an overhaul to the engaging aural experience for anyone looking to improve IL-2's soundscape. This time around, newer and more refined engine audio samples have been put into the framework of the mod. Having gathered bites from countless airshow videos and online sound sources, as well as assets from audio gods like
Jafa and
Tiger33, I've provided myself the nuts and bolts to give my mod a new breath of fresh air.
The result is a complete set of replacement engine sounds that will put any of the stock sounds to shame. You really must hear the new DB 600, BMW 801, Merlin, and Allison sounds - They are music for the ears! Don't forget the thunderous roar of US Radial engines - These will power through the skies with brute force! The Russian and Japanese piston engines have that familiar cool growl from the previous releases, but have been further refined and tweaked for greater flavor to your auditory senses! As for any familiar sounding engine sets, they too have been retouched in ways that bring out a greater taste!
All in all, the engine sounds in this version have been heavily polished and balanced to provide the best sound immersion possible, and I think you will enjoy them. Dare I say, I managed to make this mod even MORE fly-by worthy, without any classfile trickery of any sort! And as per tradition of SAS modding, all sounds are sampled at 22 kHz in Mono, for efficient operation and downloading!

With the advent of it's own new buttons file and tools (courtesy of FL2070), I have made an even wider array of engine sounds to ensure diversity among IL-2's sound sets in the FMD and EMD files! Now with VSM 7.5 you'll get to hear more unique and distinctive engines at work, boasting a number of more than 40 new engine audio presets! VSM 7.5 WORKS MAINLY ON 4.12 MOD INSTALLS. It has been tested on
VP ModPack and
BAT: #World at War. It works without problems there.
- Just open the .ZIP and drop the ! VSM Sound Mod v7.5 into your MODS folder (depending on your respective 4.12 mod installation: VPModPack or BAT: #World At War) and enjoy!

VSM 7.5 should work on other non-4.12 mod installs, as long as you delete the "gui" folder and the "FM" files located in the main "! VSM Sound Mod v7.5" folder. This mod's own buttons file and custom FMs haven't been tested on non-4.12 mods yet, which is why I give this little safety warning to avoid conflicts, crashes, issues, etc.
-LAST NOTE:-
You may not fully enjoy the sounds this mod has to offer if your mods folder has other sound mods in it. Disable or delete them so your game loads and reads VSM 7.5's files when playing.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
