Checkpont Charlie Help
« on: May 03, 2020, 04:54:02 PM »

I recently installed checkpoint charlie and I thought it would install the other expansions (blitz, linebacker, musketeer, ext...). When I opened il2 none of the planes or anything were in my game. I put all the individual files in a folder and extracted them to my il2 1946 folder. I don't know if I did something wrong, but if I did how to do I do it and how do I uninstall checkpoint charlie. I also downloaded the pathfinder addon because I dint think it was in checkpoint charlie. I installed it the same way. Help.

What you must do to install B.A.T. properly

1) Ensure you have IL-2 1946 version 4.12.2m installed, completely stock, with absolutely no mods.
2) Locate the main game folder—the folder that contains il2fb.exe.
3) Copy that folder somewhere else that is NOT protected by admin rights. The copied folder will be referred to as your "BAT install folder" from now on.
4) Download the executable and all the ZIPs for BAT from here. Make sure that the exe and the zips are all in the same folder.
5) Run the executable and point it at your BAT install folder.

You now have B.A.T. version 1.0. Time for Checkpoint Charlie, which is B.A.T. 3.0.
1) Download the Checkpoint Charlie installer and ZIPs from here. Make sure the installer and all the zips are in the same folder.
2) Run the installer and point it to your BAT install folder.

You now have BAT 3.0. To upgrade to the latest major version of BAT (version 3.8), install these in this exact order (each update works the same way as the 3.0 update, just make sure the installer and zips are in the same folder, then run the installer and point it to your BAT install folder):

1) BAT 3.1: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,56370.0.html
2) BAT 3.2: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,56913.0.html
3) BAT 3.3: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,57475.0.html
4) BAT 3.4: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,59368.0.html
5) BAT 3.5: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,59975.0.html
6) BAT 3.6: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,61106.0.html
7) BAT 3.7: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,62096.0.html
8) BAT 3.8: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,63224.0.html

You now have the latest major version of BAT. Time to do the patches. Install these patches in this exact order the same way you've installed the BAT updates (3.0, 3.1, 3.2, etc).
1) Patch 3.8.1
2) Patch 3.8.2
3) Patch 3.8.3

You now have the latest version of BAT.

Hope I helped!

And checkpoint Charlie is what I think it is, having all the expansions ex: blitz all in one spot.

Huh? No.

If I were you, I'd stop referring to the expansions by name. Use the version number, that makes everything so much clearer. Charlie is version 3.0
After that comes 3.1, after that comes 3.2 and so on and forth.

It's alright, I hope everything's clear now, it's a pretty straight forward update concept.
Just nobody had brought up that misconception before.

Checkpoint Charlie has nothing else to do with the other current expansions (blitz, angels high, pegasus, etc). It's a compilation of the old "12 BAT expansion packs" in one. Those expansions no longer exist.

Checkpoint Charlie is simply a one-stop update to BAT 3.0. The other updates, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, etc. install over their respective previous version: 3.1 installs over 3.0 (BAT checkpoint charlie), version 3.2 installs on top of 3.1, version 3.3 installs on top of 3.2, etc.

On the contrary, you actually need to update.

After BAT 3.5 (the Blitz), the performance of the whole game will in fact be much improved for you. You will have much better FPS in any higher version.
There was a specific java handling implemented.

Besides, every update holds fixes, patches and improvements you will want, and there is no tech help support for older versions.

What a great guide FL2070! A couple of suggestions to complete an already great post:

After point 5) add: Check your DLLs, confirm BAT 1.0 works - there is no point in proceeding further if BAT 1.0 doesn't work.

At the end, point players to both the DGen for BAT-WAW and the Single Mission Packs. You can also suggest players to visit the Missions and Campaigns board for additional content.

BAT installation works on IL-2 1946 from any source, as long as it's version 4.12.2m. For steam, right-click on IL-2 1946 in the games list, select properties, and go into the betas submenu. From there, you can select 4.12.2m.

Whichever zip it says is damaged, you must redownload it.

Do not just extract the Zips, use the installer exe files.

These must be - as described in the threads where you downloaded them - inside the same folder as the zips.

Which in your case, they are not, judging by the error message.
 checksum is: error
It means, that the installer could not even find the zip it was looking for. A damaged zip would return just a different checksum.

The installers and ALL of its zips should be in exactly the same folder. Check that they are before attempting to run the installer.

My advice would be to create a special folder in your downloads folder called "BAT" and put all the installers and zips there once you've downloaded them. It's what I did.
