F1M2
« on: May 08, 2020, 07:10:54 AM »

I found an image of a light gray Japanese F1M2 that I'd like to request skinned.

https://www.pinterest.com/pin/560698222329120467/

This gray scheme could represent the early war paintscheme.  The tail code (ZI) is for the Seaplane Tender 'Kamikawa Maru' (which is also the mod found is "Ships" section).

Also, here's another link https://rarebooksjapan.com/?p=26911
Click on the book pic and it will show photos and sideviews of the plane.

Here is a list of tail codes I found here:  https://laststandonzombieisland.com/2020/01/08/warship-wednesday-jan-8-2020-maru-floatplane-carriers/
Kamikawa Maru– ZII (15 November 1940) ZI (September 1941) Z (May 1942) YI (14 July 1942)
L-1 (1943)
Kunikawa Maru– YII tail code (November 1942) L-2 (January 1943)
Kiyokawa Maru– R (1941) RI (14 July 1942–November 1942)
Kimikawa Maru– X (December 1941) C21 (1943)

Y1-17 skin already exists along with two other early grey scheme birds by Stanislao.  They  are available at IL Air Combat.

;D  The skins you will find are suitable for this version, and the title of the skins should remain F1M2 as tell "Readme"

For the skins of yours to work on my version you need to make a skin folder named F1M2A and place the skins in that folder.

Well, I've been wanting to do something for Malaya or Palembang 1942 because cyberolas' textures are so awesome, but I'm not sure about the F1M2 yet.

I wish the Kamikawa Maru seaplane tender MOD had a catapult for all these nice seaplanes we have.  I've been learning about the operations of these tenders and it seems the Japanese used the tenders much like the USA used escort carriers.  Without a catapult, it seems a little cheesy to do airstarts over the ship (but that's all we can do, making the best of what we have).

It seems the big IJN seaplane operations were in the Solomons and Aleutians.  Poltava, I bet you could do a really good one for the Solomons.

stanislao, thanks so much for the link to the skins.  They are excellent.  and that Navy blue 'ghost-blue' scheme is kick-A!  btw, what is the history or operations area for that one?

vampire_pilot and Bombsaway, thanks for all y'all do giving us these mods.
I'm using these skins for Bombsaways version with the skin folder F1M2A but only the 2048 skins show up on the a/c.  It's fine for me but others may not have the High Def mod for those to work.

:(    Try to eliminate the empty spaces in the titles of the skins files, perhaps replacing them with the sign "_"
or the "-" sign some game installations do not support the empty spaces in the titles, or simply too long titles ...     ;)
