best place to copy game folder
« on: May 13, 2020, 06:32:37 PM »

HI folks,
I've been away from IL-2 for awhile due to a house fire but now I'm back.
I have to say that BAT looks amazing and can't  wait to start installing it.
I would like to ask a question though.
I am going to be installing BAT to a steam version of the game and know what version it has to be. I also know I need to make a copy of the folder on my PC somewhere not protected by admin rights and install in to it.
My question is where would be the best location on my PC to copy the game folder to so I can install BAT into it?
Thanks for any advice for this BAT newbie,
Tom (Skyvyper)

First off, when you install IL-2 on steam go in the properties section under "Betas" and opt for the 4.12.2 release. Steam installs 4.13 by default these days so it saves you having to use the "un-patcher"

Where you move the game folder doesn't really matter, as long as it's not in program files. I always just drop it on the desktop for convenience sake.

I think most people here create a folder off their root directory. Since it is possible to have multiple copies of IL-2, and maybe a copy of BoS, my directory looks something like this:

\Games
..\IL-2 BAT
..\IL-2 VP Modpack
..\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 NoMods
..\IL-2 Great Battles
