Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well

Some time ago, after noticing the Canadair Sabres in the BAT aircraft roster, I decided to make a campaign for IL-2 centered around the RCAF in Europe during the cold war. I was quite pleased with the results, so I did some polishing work and thought I'd share it here, since there is a frankly disturbing lack of IL-2 content for the discerning Canuck  . In this campaign, you will be a Canadian fighter pilot flying the superb Canadair Sabre mk.6 in a fictional world war 3 scenario against the eastern bloc in Germany (just ignore the fact that your Canadian wingmen have British accents and call the Soviets Huns).



In the 1950's, the RCAF contributed a significant fighter force in the form of no.1 air division to NATO in western Europe. In 1955, the air division consisted of 4 wings of 3 squadrons each, totaling about 300 Sabres. One squadron of each wing would later switch to CF-100 Canuck all weather interceptors, but that is outside our time frame. You will be flying with 439 squadron, no. 1 wing RCAF initially based in Marville, France. As tensions rise over a renewed Berlin blockade, you will be moved to northern Germany to assist in the efforts to resupply the city by air.

As the Berlin crisis spirals the world into war, the fighters of no.1 wing become a key part of the defense of Northern Germany, flying escort, intercept and CAP missions as well as the occasional mud moving run. Your main adversaries will be the MiG-15(bis) and the MiG-17A, both of which have much bigger guns that you do. You will often find yourself in large, chaotic dogfights, so keep your head on a swivel. If the MiG is behind you, you're already dead.

This is the first campaign I've ever released, so any feedback is welcome. I have play tested it quite extensively on my own, but it's entirely possible that I missed some issues so let me know if you run into any. This campaign was built in and for BAT 3.8, I can't guarantee it will work with any other mods. You will find more info and skin credits in the readme.

This is great! I have the R.J. Childerhose book on the F-86, he flew with the RCAF in Germany during the campaigns time frame, he recalls that he received a call from a  squadron mate claiming that he had forty yanks cornered over Bitburg, so he raced off to help figuring that the rest of the squadron would charge to their mates help, he arrived to find forty yanks and little ole him all by himself!
He later was part of the flight of two Sabres that set the airspeed record for crossing Canada, Vancouver to Halifax 2740 miles, on August 29, 1956 in 5 hours 30 seconds

Great story, ill have to get that book. My grandfather flew RCAF Sabres in the 60s (he wasn't deployed to Europe, but he has plenty of stories from friends who were) and I always loved hearing about the rivalries between the different NATO air forces.
