Ships and evasive action - edit
« on: October 04, 2020, 08:31:13 AM »

I couldn't decide if this topic should go in Mods Request or here but I decided it should go here in Mission Discussions.

I just wonder if it's possible to adjust the codes of ships so that, when under attack, the ships would then take evasive action such as turning and increasing speed.

edit:
I was also thinking about how land vehicles scatter when under attack.  Is there a way to use this 'vehicle scatter' for ships?

In my past missions that I've built, I tried to emulate the action by adding waypoints for ships to turn when a/c get close.  All this takes timing and testing the mission to create this effect.

This has been a recurring topic for years!
As many years as this discussion has led to a demand!
And it's been as many years since the answer has been the same!

Unless a skilled coder takes an interest nothing will happen. Even then it may be that too much is hidden in inaccessible files.
Implementing a "scatter" function, even if possible, would be very unrealistic.

Basics required initially are collision avoidance, whether that is with other ships or torpedoes.
Added damage function would be nice. That  is a very big subject.

Thanks for the replies.  I figured it was a difficult thing to do.  If it wasn't, it probably would have been done already.
