Masters of the Mediterranean 1940
« on: March 28, 2021, 02:07:16 PM »

This is - surprise! - not a converted old campaign but a brand new one! When one of our master modders put together a new aircraft, I find it hard to resist the temptation to build a campaign for that aircraft. In this case Master Modder DreamK and his beautiful Loire 130M!

This is a semi-historical, static 7-mission campaign, set in June 1940. You are a French pilot with a Aeronavale Escadrille in Tunisia, flying the Loire 130M, a slow but reliable flying boat that has been in service since 1937. The campaign starts in early June 1940, with Italy declaring war on France, putting the French colonies in North Africa suddenly in harms way.

Both the Italian Navy and the Italian airforce is quite impressive, at least on paper, and you will help to keep an eye on them. You will fly a variety of missions: recce assignments of course, but also night bombing attacks, hunt for enemy submarines, and help to rescue downed French air men.

You will have a spotter on board, plus a navigator, and both will help you with their observations - which takes the form of text messages across the screen.

Thanks to the C&C Mod plus the absolutely brilliant HSFX Triggers (new in BAT!), there is a strong random element in all mission, meaning that the strength and the skill of the enemy opposition will vary quite a lot, so will the weather, and often also the time of day. Your behaviour will also influence what you will encounter - for instance, it is almost always a good idea to come in low. If you fail on a single mission, replaying it could mean a quite different challenge.

Some more shiny screenies here:

Eventually I hope to use this campaign as a basis for campaigns for ALL DreamK's great, new Aeronavale flying boats. But that is perhaps later.

Thanks for looking!  :)

Hello!

I've played most of your campaigns and registered here to thank you for all your great work! Unusual and interesting theme for a campaign, as always :)

Yes, indeed!  :D :D :D

The addition of HSFX Triggers to BAT is just GREAT! A quantum leap forward, I would say. Yet I am just starting to learn. An inventive useage of Triggers promises to open up completely new gameplay.

Then add the trusty old C&C Mod to the mix, and the sky is the limit. Almost. Thanks for the Triggers - really!  ;D
