Stunning WxTech!

Can't wait to try that gunsight out on some Japs after work.
All we need now is separate triggers for the cannons and machine guns.

P.S. How challenging for you would adding an external rear view mirror to an aircraft be?

I've already cooked up a mod--quite a few months back--that puts the .50 and .303 guns on separate triggers. But I couldn't succeed to alter the existing planes, and had to make up new planes on their own slots. Very inconvenient. Not being so conversant in all matters involving planes, the stationaries had to be the stock planes while the new ones were the preferred ones for flying. Probably had something to do with the mysterious cod files, or lack.

Perhaps I should hand that stuff off to someone more competent in this area.

As to adding a mirror; no problem I can see. Especially if it involves nothing more than copying from another plane having one. Not having added a NEW mirror (I've only altered existing ones), I'd have to check if that involves the cockpit class. No trouble there, though.

You can always ask. Who knows; it might involve something I haven't thought of but might deem worthy. In any event, I don't bark.  ;)

A remake of the Spitfire Mk I-V cockpit windscreen/canopy would be lovely! The one ingame is pretty simple and doesn't resemble the real thing by any great stretch of the imagination, which is pretty complex. Almost nobody has gotten is correct. The best one is arguably in IL-2 GB, with the one in CLoD being a close second (though the columns are a bit too thick).

I feel as though that would be nice to see remade!

The real thing is a bit confusing with different bits of plexiglass, metal framing and armoured glass sandwiched together which I still can't quite wrap my head around without technical drawings:

I think the spit cockpits would all benefit from a wxtech makeover (????????)

About mirrors. These three planes already have them. I see that I neglected to include the meshes for the Hawk, but the game should still load that from the SFS archive.

In any event, I just did some tweaking on the mirrors. I slightly chopped down the 90 degree corners for the upper part of the frame, improved the frame texturing, and moved the mirror a bit farther back to facilitate the view, particularly when the canopy is closed and its forward frame blocks some of the lower mirror edge.

What I'd like to do is apply a rotation about the vertical and horizontal axes, so that the view from a centered position is looking down the plane's longitudinal axis. Currently one has to move to the right to see the reflection as centered longitudinally. And one has to lift one's head to see nearer to level. In other words, the view currently is directed somewhat toward 5 o'clock high. I might be able to work out the transformation to apply to the 9-digit matrix, but that involves some brain pain. ,;) if a handy utility existed whereby I could specify the desired angular rotation and have the new matrix spit out, that would be capital!

Thanks for this mod! Better feeling of immersion in the early P-40 pits, and much better view to the rear. The 3D iron sights are impressive.
