So, as said in the Austro-Hungarian post, I planned to make a third Romanian skin pack because I found some more photos, this time it's smaller with only 4 aircraft. It's for the early campaign aircraft (those from 1916), from the photos it seems that the early aircraft received by Romania had the yellow part of the markings were not covering the whole white part of the French markings, leaving a white circle/line in between. I also made a WW1 Romanian pilot skin. Download link as previously will be on the first page.

The pack includes the following:
-Morane-Saulnier L, from a photo showing a Romanian MS L captured by Austro-Hungarian troops in 1916, the plane being probably left behind due to engine problems. The skin works for the type L, LF and LF2 since it is mentioned that the Romanian Moranes were equipped with machine guns, though I'm not sure whether these planes were twin seaters or single seaters so the skins works for both.

-Maurice-Farman MF.11 number 6, as it appears in a photo together with the pilots Haralambie Giossanu and Nicolae Tănase

-Nieuport 11, interestingly the photo is apparently from 1919 however the tail marking of this N 11 is done in the 1916 style with white lines left in between the yellow marking so it could be that this aircraft was left in its 1916 color scheme.

-Voisin III, another early campaign Romanian plane

-And the mentioned pilot in his flight gear. The suit is based on a photo from the Imperial War Museums collection showing group of Romanian pilots posing in front of two Nieuport 17s (https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205322529). The face of the pilot is that of Vasile Craiu, I mentioned him before in the first skin pack (I managed to find a good colorized photo of him that worked well).

I've also updated the description on some skins and added some more info here and there. I could also post the photos in the WW1 photo topic on the forum, if anyone's interested.

This is all for now :)

Thank you Alin - allow me to use only your first name - for this great job and I would like to inform you that French Lieutenant René Chambe, later Captain Chambe served with the French contingent in Romania from 1917. Rene Chambe, wrote the book "No Tempo das Carabinas" - Title in Portuguese BR. where he tells of his adventures in the beginning of French fighter aviation, participating in the shooting down as an observer, of an Albatros with rifle shots of what was the 4th aerial victory of the war, recognized by both combatant sides. Later Chambe becomes a pilot and participates in the air war in Romania as he quotes in his book. Thanks again for your work.

cheers

For one, yeah, Alin is fine, you don't have to use the whole name :) I use both my names since usually just the name Alin is taken when I register to most sites.

And really interesting about Captain Chambe. I do have him mentioned in mentioned in two of my sources (both in Romanian), he seems to have been the commander of the Nieuport 1 squadron, and he engaged a Hansa Brandenburg C.I on 8 July 1917 together with Lieutenant Mihăilescu (who was also part of the N.1 squadron) though Mihăilescu shot it down so it wasn't a shared kill. Does he mention any victories achieved on the Romanian front? Or does he mention the squadron he was assigned to?

Hi Alin, unfortunately he doesn't mention the squad he was in fighting in Romania, at least in the book I described. I found the information on wikipedia in French - https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ren%C3%A9_Chambe - and actually it was posted on N1 Squadron and arrived in Romania in August 1916 and not in 1917 as I wrongly reported. My apologies for the mistake.

Cheers

That's alright, sad he didn't mention the events during his time in Romania. Still an interesting story. Thank you!
