Hello everyone,

HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!  I wish the happiness and best health to everyone around the world!

By the way, while I am continuing to study aircraft naming and designation system and overhauling aircraft list;  I have an idea that makes sense.  I am going to make three versions of AAL for WAW module.  They will be known as WAW_EARLY, WAW_LATE, WAW_MIX.

For WAW_EARLY, it will focus on aircraft name and designation that was used in early part of WWII.  For example, you would only see Martlet series for British version of USN F4F.  At the same time, for Japanese aircraft, you would only see long type and model numbers.

For WAW_LATE, it will focus on the name and designation that is used in the late part of WWII.  For Japanese aircraft, they will use shorten system that replace the long type and model.  And at the same time, youl will see specific British name switching to another name for certain aircraft.  For example, Wildcat Mk series, Hellcat Mk series, etc..

For WAW_MIX, you will see both names from early and late version of aircraft name and designation.  That way everyone can pick whichever they prefer.  I aim to give the aircraft most accurate name and designation system they used through times.

Cheers!

Hello everyone!

A big update:  The new additional project that is being worked on is announced in this link:

Alternative Ordinance List (AOL) Project - WIP
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,70156.0.html

I am aiming to finish newer version for BAT v4.2.2 Hotfix 4 along with the first version of AOL.  I do not know when I will finish as AOL is taking a lot of my time.  However, I hope that newer version of AAL and AOL will make your experience more enjoyable when flying in IL-2 1946 BAT!

Cheers!

Hello everyone!

The new version v1.7.1 of AAL is released.  It have gone through more changes.  Thank to the AOL project, I am surprised how many various roles each aircraft have.  After finishing working on the next several nation aircraft's ordinance, some aircraft are moved to the correct roles.

However, due to many complicated roles tags, I decided to clean up the list by merging a few roles, such as "High speed light bombers" and light bombers into "Light bomber".  Same with Medium and Heavy bombers.  It makes sense to do that.  However, there are certain aircraft that carries not only ordinance for bombing, they also carry anti-shipping ordinance.  That is where I move the specific bombers to have roles of being bombers and anti-shipping.

However, the new version of AOL project is also released, so check it out too.

As always, the feedback are big help and I hope to get feedback here, so the project can be improved even further too!

Thank you for enjoying AAL and AOL mods.

Hello everyone!

I just realized I made a mistake with Japanese aircraft designation system.  Since I am re-working on Japanese aircraft list while working on Japanese plane in AOL project, I just realized that Imperial Japanese Navy actually use three different designation system at the same time while Army use two designation systems!

Now I finally understand.  I am going back to the short designation system, which is most commonly used and easily understood by many of us. Howevcer, I am working on a multi version of AAL for IJN and IJA aircraft.  The standard version will use short designation system while the second version will use Long type and model.

I am looking forward to releasing the next version with corrected Imperial Japanese aircraft names.

Hello everyone,

I made the correction to the last two posts.  The more I research and re-study Japanese designation system, the more sense it makes.  I am able to correct my misunderstanding and re-do the aircraft names for the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy Air Services.

Hello everyone!

The new version of AAL v1.8 (BETA) is released with two different version to select.  Please read the readme for installation instruction.  Make sure you delete the folder "#BAT_DOF_ALTERNATIVE_AIRCRAFT_LIST_ALL_ERA" because AAL uses new folder from now on.

NOTE:  BE WARNED, the version_2 with long type and model for all Japanese aircraft may be too long, I will correct that in the next version.  That is why I ask for the feedback and ideas.  However, for anyone who are comfortable with short designation system, go for Version_1.

As always, the feedback are welcomed and it helps me improving the mods further.

Thank you for enjoying the mods!  I owe big thanks to SAS community for the supports!

Note for Bf-109L series, the Bf-109L-4C3 is not L-4 with C3 fuel, but an L-4 with the "DB606C3" fictional engine, as opposed to the DB606C1 engine used by the standard Bf-109L-4. I'd suggest, for their plane.properties entries:

Code: [Select]
Bf-109L-4 Bf 109 L-4 [DB606C1], 1946 -FICT-
Bf-109L-4C3 Bf 109 L-4 [DB606C3], 1946 -FICT-

Or better yet, I could have been less of a doofus and thought of a different engine designation all those years ago when designing that abomination of a mod... but what's done is done  :P

Thank you for the information!  I am fixing it now.  The new version with the major updates to Soviet aircraft list and names including loadout is coming out soon.

Cheers!

Hello everyone!

I just realized that I forgot to mention that the updates being released for AAL is focused on WAW module since I am working on AOL project for WAW.  I am working on both AAL and AOL in parallel to each other.

When AOL and WAW part of AAL are completed, I will be working on TGA module next. After that DOF, and then finally JTW.

Hello everyone!

The new version of AAL v1.8.1 is now released with major update to WAW module.

The biggest change is the new additional roles as Fighter / Fighter-Bomber.

For the notes, there are three types of fighter roels:

FIGHTER (For aircraft that are designed as fighter)

For example: P-400 'Airacobra', Yak-3, and other fighter that does not have the options of carrying bombs at least.

FIGHTER / FIGHTER-BOMBER  (For aircraft that are designed as fighter with the additional abilities of carrying bombs)

For example, P-40E 'Warhawk", Bf 109G-2, and etc...

FIGHTER-BOMBER (For aircraft that are desigend as delicated fighter bomber)

For exampe, P-47 'Thunderbolt', Typhoon Mk IB, etc...

By the way, for anyone who are fans of Paulus Dragonfly Series aircraft, they are given the proper role aircraft while they get their own group as another nation.  That way, you can tell which roles they are desigend for.

Finally, there are some aircraft with more than several roles and it would a lengthy of text to describe their roles. To make it simple, I added the role tag as "Multi-Role".  For example, Firefly F Mk I since she is desigend to be Fighter, Anti-Submarine hunting, Fighter-bomber, and other roles.

As always, I seek for the ways to further improve AAL, so the feedback will alwasy be great help.  The next steps I am working on is fixing the lengthy names for Japanese aircraft with long Type and Model designation system.

The new version of AOL (Alternative Ordinance Aircraft) is being released today too.  Check it out since it is desigend to work with AAL too.

Thank you for enjoying the mods.
