The TBF and the TBM are mostly same aircraft. TBF is the designation for aircraft manufactured by Grumman, and TBM is the designation for aircraft manufactured by General Motors. Both are carrier-based (though I'm sure some operated from land bases) torpedo bombers.
EDIT: brain not working today. sorry. :|
Thank you for the feedback. The biggest concern is if they are named incorrectly. Here is the list:
TBF-1 Avenger, 1942
TBF-1B (ASR / ASB-3), 1943
TBF-1C Avenger, 1943
TBM-1C (B) Avenger (ASR / ASB-3), 1943
TBM-1 Avenger, 1942
TBM-1D Avenger (ASR / ASP-6), 1943
TBM-1C (D) Avenger (ASR / ASP-6), 1943
TBM-1C (E) Avenger (ASR / ASP-4), 1943
TBM-3 Avenger, 1943
TBM-3B Avenger (ASR / ASB-3), 1944
TBM-3D Avenger (ASR / ASP-6), 1944
TBM-3E Avenger (ASR / ASP-4), 1944
TBM-3L Avenger (ASR / ASP-6 / LL), 1944
TBM-3B Sea Avenger, 1943 -FICT-
See this:
TBM-1C (B) Avenger (ASR / ASB-3), 1943
Orginially the name is displayed in BAT:
Grumman TBM-1/C B Avenger/Tarpon II (ASR/ASB-3)
After doing research, this is what I found as actual name as "TBF-1C". It is my goal to make all name as authentic as possible, even for fictional aircraft. Hence, in AAL, it is "TBM-1C (B)". I wonder if that naming is inaccurate. Is it actually "TBM-1C/B"?
I always make sure everything is done correcty in the mods.
