Controlling AI aircraft after death?
« on: September 27, 2021, 11:44:40 AM »

I've been playing Il2 for quite a long time now, mostly with BAT, and I've always wondered if I could take control of ai aircraft after dying?
Haven't been able to find anything about it, and I think it would be pretty nice.

Hello Wolfosito,

and what is your inquiry?

By the way, if you are dead then you are dead!

What else do you want to control after your death?

Welcome here at SAS and congratulations on your first post - good luck.

Hello, Wolfosito!
I would say that it depends on which version of the game you use, because as I understand it this is only possible with
PAL's Visual Mod (8.0 and up). And I am not sure that you can change planes after you are dead. There are next generation mods cooked into the current version of BAT which do not play well with Visual Mod, so it's not recommended to install to BAT. However, a Modact version of IL2 would allow you to add mods as you see fit. So in that case, yes.

Here's a link if you'd like to try it: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=42495.0

You can also land and leave your plane while the crew refills your fuel and ammo (Yes, they will do that, even though there is currently no visual of the process, but much more "real" than grabbing an AI plane after you are dead.). But if you leave the plane you will no longer be able to issue commands to your group(s). So for instance, you are playing a quick mission with enemies left over after you've spent your ammo, you can land, load up, and get back to killing.

Once again, if anyone here knows of another way or wishes to add something to help our new friend here, please jump in.
