Lighter Than Air - #1 mission and skin pack
For BAT 4.2 Flashpoint

Hello you Helium Heads!
Here's a set of all my various single missions for the new carrier airships Akron/Macon and ZRCV carrier

Some are for TGA, some are for WAW, make sure to chose the right module to play them to get all the necessary ships and objects and planes in the missions

The missions are mostly not about combat - well, some fictionals are, eventually, but most are just about enjoying the flight, the carrier operations or performing tasks in an exercise. Get the hang and enjoy the recreational flying as everything is Lighter Than Air...



Realistic missions:

- begin flight and skyhook training in 1932 on board the Akron
- participate in fleet maneuvers in the 1930s
- lots of recon, SAR and navigation flying!
- firing excercises and night flying over the Pacific



Fictional missions:

- visit the Berlin Olympics with the USS Akron to perform with Ernst Udet over the Olympic stadium. (3 mission series)
- Finding Amelia  - what if... the Macon would have conduced maneuvers in a badly charted area of the South Pacific in late 1937? (3 mission series)
- A day of Infamy - what if.... the Macon was around near Pearl Harbor that day? (2 mission series)



- First strike - what if....the airship carriers Long Island and Long Beach would have been around to conduct that first bombing raid on Japan? (4 mission series)

Comes with an extended skin pack for the airships and the drone planes.

Wowww, I was waiting for that ....
Thanks a lot for the new lighter than air content, hooking into these giant ships is a great experience and one that has not been in a sim since the days of Crimson Skies...

Just now managed my first successful docking LOL!
I was suddenly taken back to the days when PF first
came out, and I crashed, over and over again, into
the carriers until I got it. About 3 tries until I had it
this time.

Can't wait for a version of Crimson B.A.T. for this!!!!

Thanks a lot, this is, without a doubt, one of the most interesting and unusual sets of missions in Il2!

I've been thoroughly enjoying the challenge of docking/undocking on the USS Akron, flying the N2Y in the 1932_Basic_training_Akron mission.

However, the first few times I had lots of problems with stuttering, and last night a couple of CTDs with a runtime error. There were sound glitches at the time of the stutters, so I assumed they were caused by problems with sound files. Indeed, when I looked in the log.lst file, there were lots of references to errors trying to load sound files for the Static vehicles.radios.Beacon$Radio_Honolulu object (even though I had the beacon selection in game set to None). When I deleted the Radio Honolulu object from the mission file, everything worked fine - no stutters. Nice and smooth, and made flying the mission a real pleasure.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the mission file, so the problem seems to be the Radio Honolulu beacon object, or the sound files it's trying to access. Has anyone else had any of these problems?

My BAT is a standard setup updated from 4.1.3 to 4.2, unmodded apart from NG-HUD, -CAM, -MAP and -PAL, plus WXTech's Effects 1.2 and VSMSound Mod 7.3 in the WAW3 folder (so should not affect anything in the TGA folder). Plus the BAT Docking Beeper turned on in JSGME.

By the way, that Pearl mission has a little twist with reality.

The CO of Air Group Six on board CV-6 Enterprise at the time was Howard Young, a former USS Akron and USS Macon hook-on pilot!
The carrier SBDs you are ordered to "intercept" and accompany to Pearl, right into that attack wave, were under his command.
