Hello guys, glad you are happy with the work so far. 8)

This is coming along much better than my migration to my new PC, I could take a hammer to it. :o

Hopefully at least my modelling tools will make the crossover, not sure my java stuff will but onward and downwards into the abyss I go, I do hate Windows 11. ::(

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Thanks for that really appreciated. 8)

I have seen many photographs with stuff hanging off the thing and wrapped around it but never quite knew what best to call it or what exactly was its true purpose but drawbar sounds just perfect to me so that one is put to bed, the itch is scratched. ;)

Take care and be safe.

Hello again guys, it has been a while since I updated you on progress so here goes. ;)

There are now new links for the Bedford and its template in the first page for anyone following this and
the update includes the changes shown previously and what follows.

So, where were we?

The gearbox and the fittings associated with it have gone through numerous changes:

Trying to make a shape that looks something like is quite difficult but I try adding things where I can to hopefully
make it something like, here is the other side:

Bit by bit I think I finally started to get close:

The ribs on the casing went through many changes to try and get them to conform to the shape but eventually
I just had to settle for what I had and move on to the more detailed stuff of the gear change box:

The engine bracket had to be altered to accept the casing as getting the whole thing to match up from photographs
proved quite difficult but eventually things fitted and so then I could detail the filter at the side:

Once mapped and painted it looked okay but I do not think the factories of the time would have trusted me
to shape their castings:

Detailing where the connectors will eventually attach to for the drive shaft:

Trying to make the rubber stops at each side of the casing that rest on the engine bracket and some of the detail
for the shaft to hook up to:

More mapping and painting and the area starts to come together:

A test in game of what had been done so far:

Work begins on the connectors for the drive shaft:

Here we have a blocking out of all the relevant parts to try and get the size and shape near enough:

Duplicating and trying to judge the fit at the other end to the differential:

A change of shape for one of the connectors, I tried an all in one piece at first but it just did not want to smooth
properly so I assembled another from a number of meshes and got something a little better, at least I thought so:

And finally it all came together, I separated the gear change lever form the cab interior and now have it as a
separate item connected to the box with the hier so if I want to make an object of the engine on its own for
a scene, put it on a bench for instance, it makes it easier to add it:

My dabbling with Blender also continues, I needed a vehicle or building tutorial that would also paint the
model using Substance Painter and found this ambulance at UDEMY to allow me to make stuff in a way
that is more in line with how more modern games/sims do things and I try to do a little of this each day
to keep my Blender training going:

Okay that is it for now. ;)

If you download from the new link then please just delete the earlier version of this from your install as many
things get altered as I go, the java entries for adding them in remain the same.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D
