install one plane in both TGA and WAW
« on: November 12, 2021, 05:53:02 AM »

I've been trying to install a missing plane, the Tomashevich-Pegasus in both TGA and WAW.
The odd thing is that it works fine in WAW alone. No problem installing.
But when i try to add to TGA the game crashes at the good ol' 60%.

I've tried find a good explanation on how to install on both versions.

Anyway, I added the air,ini lines to both air,ini versions, added the folder to BATMODS with the appropriate suffix (#WAW and #TGA), but both together will not work.

I know that BAT installs are perhaps a bit different from the classic DBW installs. But any pointers would be appreciated. I am still new to BAT and trying to find my way around modding BAT.

it already IS in WAW ;)
No need to install it

60% is air.ini. Entry error or missing class.
As you should know all too well: A log will clear the nature of the mishap.

But just to make sure this is understood: You must treat TGA and WAW as separate entities. Nothing is shared in between these two folders. So you need everything in the TGA folder as well, classes, 3do, FM, everything.

I know that BAT installs are perhaps a bit different from the classic DBW installs.

basically not at all different, same rules apply.

The biggest difference is the cod system for loadouts in BAT. You can not modify loadouts with entries in the java class for an existing slot (unless you know the java trick to tell the class with code to ignore cods)

G'day agracier

Try placing the aircraft mod directly into the #TGA folder and add the air.ini entries.

I think I'm correct in saying that you only add mods to the BATMODS folder to activate via JSGME.

Personally unless I have expressed instructions to add a mod through JSGME I don't use it.

tnx ... I am getting the hang of BAT. And this works as explained - planes for TGA in TGA folder along with entry into TGA air.ini and planes for WAW into WAW folder along with air.ini entry in the WAW folder.

Indeed logical, but getting help helps ... tnx

Glad I could help mate.

I'm new to B.A.T. myself coming from VP Modpack.

Instead of adding mods to #SAS folder, I now add them to #WAW3 folder that's the only difference.

Installing planes in both TGA and WAW
« Reply #5 on: November 21, 2021, 08:58:02 AM »

Is there any way of installing planes in both TGA and WAW without having independently downloaded install files to use? From files that are locked up in the sfs files?

I've tried a number of times and I get the classic 70% ctd. I tried using the air.ini line in both TGA and WAW but it doesn't work. Though it would seem logical given that the necessary files are in an sfs file somewhere.

You just asked the same thing
No. You must treat the era folders seperately. The modules have selective sfs

You have a better memory than i do I guess ...:). Sorry for asking twice.

Anyway, a difficulty can arise if you don't have the install files for a particular model of aircraft.

That is true of any build, of course. Which specific aircraft are we discussing? May be we can help.

tnx ... I have been looking for install files for the 'F11CHawkII' for a number of years actually. But I thought the install files had disappeared from links on SAS or elsewhere. I've never been able to find any install files for this plane.

However now having installed BAT, I saw it was included in the TGA module and that renewed my quest to get it installed, this time in WAW.

tnx ... I have been looking for install files for the 'F11CHawkII' for a number of years actually.

This cannot be, as this is a brand new 3d import by 101tfs and the slot was done by me specifically only for BAT 4.2 Flashpoint, in conjunction with Mike in his UP3 update. It did not exist before...
So there is no and never was any install file.

Most likely you remember something wrong.
