Explosion Sounds volume
« on: December 09, 2021, 03:46:40 PM »

This may be a newbie sort of question, but I've searched around but not found anything.

I noticed that now in BAT, many explosion sounds, like bursting flak or an artillery barrage on the ground, cannot really be heard anymore when in a cockpit. When ' outside'  as in an F3 flyby or in an F2 view, they are discernible, but not as loud as they used to be DBW.

Perhaps in BAT more realistic (I don't really know but I suppose so) but I do miss the sound of exploding flak when flying around. Gives a better sense of urgency than only seeing puffs of smoke.

So my question: how can I turn up those specific sounds so i can hear them inside a cockpit while flying? I already have my general objects sound volume at its max.

You mean something like this?

Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Germany. I am a former Sound Modder from the old WW1 "Over Flanders Fields" - Series and I know your Problem. I have made my own Sound Mod for IL-2( for my own personal Taste).
It's the same Style, just like the Video.

It is indeed something like in the video where the pilot can hear outside battlesounds very well.

Of course in a WWI cockpit, it is open to the sky, while most WWII cockpits were enclosed, hence the difference in sound volume.

And while I'm OK with skins and maps, I am completely lost when it comes to modding sounds (and other things) ...

Perhaps I can help you. You can download my Sound-Mod here:

https://www.mediafire.com/folder/zsx1bp4i2q513/-Andy's+Soundmod

It is for B.A.T. 4.2, simply put it into your BATMODS Folder and activate ist with JSGME. Keep your Sound Settings as they are. I'm using 32 Channels, 22050 khz.

Please keep in mind, however, that many sounds have been converted from MONO to STEREO, this could cause a few Stutters on your System if you do not have a strong Sound System. And please keep in mind, it's not fully realistic, more Hollywood-Style. You can now hear more sounds outside the cockpit, more explosions, even the Engines of Planes when they pass close by. I've changed a lot of Samples, the Explosions now sound louder and more bombastic, the Airplane Engines are now much louder. I also changed the sounds of the German machine guns. The German MG 151/20 now sounds much more "brutal". Maybe you like my mod, maybe you don't. It's a matter of taste.
This was a "Just For Fun" - Project.

As I said, I was modding WW1 - Simulations. A Sound Mod on a WW2 - Simulation is a different Thing. It is hard to find the right Sound - Levels, because you are flying in a closed Cockpit. But I like to hear other Battle-Sounds, not only the Engine of my Plane. But as I said, that's Hollywood-Style...

Have Fun with my Mod.
Best Wishes, Andy ;D

Thanks, I'd love to try it out. Sounds what i was looking for.

However I can't download because I apparently don't have a premium Mediafire account. It seems that it is only possible to download one file at a time, which is why most downloads are zipped up into one single file.
