Hey Wolfy,

                  As always your work improves the sim. This is a latecoming thought I know, and I apologize or that, but it just hit me that the lifesized model that you based this pilot on - I assume it's from a museum somewhere was sporting a pistol.
So what you ask? Lots of pilots carried sidearms in case they had to land within enemy territory.
BUT - Japanese pilots tended not to wear parachutes - not samurai enough. In this case why would they need to sport a sidearm?
Not a criticism of your model, just an observation that just twigged in my little brain.

All Japanese pilots were given parachutes and they were encouraged to use them. In fact, at some fields the base commander insisted that chutes be worn.
However, some pilots chose not to fasten their harnesses because it limited their movement and only used the chute as a seat cushion.
Some pilots also chose not to use a parachute over enemy territory, because they didn't want to become prisoners.

Another reason some might have chosen not to use parachutes, might have been events like the one told by the American sailor James J. Fahey (light cruiser USS Montpelier, near Bougainville on November 3, 1943):

A few Japanese parachuted when they were hit but a few sailors and Marines on the 20 mm opened up on the ones in the chutes and when they hit the water they were nothing but a piece of meat cut to ribbons. This was the first time I saw Japanese  pilots use parachutes. Someone said that the Japanese don't use parachutes.

Hi Wolfighter,

I really like your work, and all my Japanese planes have your pilot model. But, I hope is not too much to ask one tiny question. 

Is there a way the player can have the option to either keep or remove the Hachimaki headband? In a number of photos, many Japanese pilots did not wear the headband into combat. Still, your model is very good and I am looking forward to the IJA pilot.

Sorry I couldn't help myself.   

My fingers were too itchy, and I had to just fire up 3ds max. I then made a simple edit. Hope you don't get mad if I ask if I can share it. The file still needs your mod to work, and you will get all the credit. If answer is no, then it will just be for personal use only. Again, thank you for this excellent mod.
