The stock illumination for the Japanese para flare is too 'piss yellow' for my taste.
And the 'glare' texture is the same one used for other less extreme lights. And so I made my own little tweaks. These screen grabs will show the new appearance of things over a good range of distance.
Just after dropping over Lae (Green Hell map):

https://www.mediafire.com/file/y0g9493wplckr8p/%25210__Jap_flare_illumination.7z/fileFrom the included readme file:
Changes the illumination color and 'glare' texture appearance, and its scaling with distance, for the Japanese illumination flare object. To this end, a dedicated glare texture was created, so as to stand out from the formerly used texture that's shared for other things like nav lights.
Works with 4.12 and B.A.T.
If you use my effects mod pack, you will already have the files in
Effects/Tracers/Textures/
Effects/Fireworks/
and so this Effects folder (and hence all its contents here) could be deleted if you wish.
I include the BombFlareJap.java file, so other modders can see what I did. The main things are the assignment of a new effect (FlareWhite_Flare.eff) for the 'glare' texture', and the altering of the illumination from the former strongly(!) lemon-yellow hue ( RGB = 1, 1, 0 ) to an off-white, warm hue ( RGB = 1, 0.9, 0.8 ).
