Ran into a problem trying to update to BAT 42.2
« on: November 27, 2022, 12:30:02 PM »

Gang,

Sure tech is REALLY not my thing, but usually the BAT updates run very smoothly. Now I tried to update from v42.1 to v42.2; Downloaded all the bits (the exe and the 3 RARs), put them in their own discreet folder (for my own benefit) and ran the executable. When it got to the end of the first 'run', a message said I need to find 'part 2' (presumably it meant rar part 2, part 3 etc) to continue. So I tried to browse back to my folder where all the v42.2 stuff was, but the folder appeared empty. When I went to the folder directly everything was there, but again when I tried to 'browse' to find the RARs the folder was still empty.

This is unusual; normally the executable just finds what it needs to and unzips them into where they need to go.
Do I need to maybe run as an administrator or something?

Your narrative is a little bit confusing.

I tried to update from v42.1 to v42.1
Makes no sense. Take your time typing the correct versions or nobody will understand it.

here you lost me again.

What you actually need to do is actually really place them into a folder together and run the exe and point it to your game (which must be the correct version needed for whatever you want to update - updating wrong old BAT versions seems  to be a pretty common error these days. So make doubly sure of what you have and where you want to go, please)

The exe is just a self extracting archive, nothing fancy at all. It does not self destruct.

OK then...since I'm not tech adept I'll trying something different:

Here is what I am trying to install:

[B.A.T. v4.2.2 update

Requirements:

You need to have a working, clean BAT v4.2.1 Flashpoint
(with or without patch)

hotfix 2:

]

JUST like I was instructed I downloaded all the files into one folder (or rather, I moved them from my download queue and put them in one folder)

So: then I attempted to do this:

3. run the installer exe and direct the extraction into your BAT install

HOWEVER, there was no 'enjoy' after I ran the exe; after it extracted for a while, it suddenly told me that I needed to find update part 2. The 'GUI' (or whatever you call the graphic interface) gave me the option to 'browse' for part 2 or cancel. I tried to use the 'browse' option to direct it to 'The One Folder that all the files were downloaded into' (as instructed above), but they were not visible. The folder appeared to be 'empty'.  When I opened the 'The One Folder where all the files were downloaded into', they were there, but the GUI could not find them or see them. So I cancelled.

Did something go wrong?

Can you show a screenhot of the folder with the files inside?

I think there is a twist to this we haven't discovered yet.
If the correct files are in the same directory, they will extract.

Unless your Windows (?) does stupid shit to it maybe.

What is the folder structure path to the location of this folder? Make sure it is somewhere unrelated to standard windows. (not "Download" or "Desktop". ...Make a new folder on C: if you have to. Usually it should not matter but with the witchery you describe, I'd simply do that)
Do you use fancy anti virus software?
Did you get any warning from windows or anywhere when you tried running the exe?

Hi, not an expert but I did my update as follows.
Ensure you run and check your bat v4.2.1 flashpoint is working.
Once downloaded the installer and 3 files put in folder.
The hot fix I did not put in folder. (which you did)
Run the  installer. Tests game.
If all ok then run the hot fix.
Hope it helps.

OK, my BAT v4.2.1 has been in place; I removed the hot fix from the folder but a 'retry' with the v4.2.2 update seems to have failed. I'm guessing the files were corrupted somehow. I will delete and try downloading them again, 'sometime in 2023'.
