Sound fadding away when looking straight forward
« on: December 09, 2022, 05:50:16 AM »

Hi I'm pretty sad,
my installation 4.10.1 DBW for some strange reason since a couple of days  is not working how it should...
4.10.1 DBW... There was an update to windows 10 recently...
The sound is very low when looking straight forward and comes back normally when looking on the sides
Besides in DBW1916, the music playing for the menu screen is also very low
I have looked for answers in the net but my conf.ini setting are alright.
Even with an old copy of my game saved on a external portable hard drive it's also the same...
I reinstalled DirectX but no go...

Here's the end of my log if this can give someone an idea
Code: [Select]
[12:22:43] sFMDir = gui/game/buttons
[12:22:43] s1 = flightmodels/u-2lsh.fmd
[12:22:43] s = FlightModels/U-2LSH.fmd
[12:22:43] m_lastFMFile = gui/game/buttons
[12:22:43] sFMDir = gui/game/buttons
[12:22:43] s1 = flightmodels/u-2nb.fmd
[12:22:43] s = FlightModels/U-2NB.fmd

Hi L,
I know, these sudden annoying little issues can be grrrrrr!!! ;)

It's probably not an IL-2 is the problem.  It may be that Windows update or sound card/chip driver update, or you may have changed the settings for the surround sound?  I would check to see if your sound card and speakers/earphones/headset are correct.  Use the test facility that you sound card/chip will have to make sure the settings are correct.

Cheers

The last 500 times when this happened to me, it was because some update decided to set my soundblaster output to 5.1 sorround, which on my dead simple stereo speakers created precisely the effect as described.

Either what Mike said or maybe your audio jack came loose a bit, only playing one channel on both speakers/heaphones

:) Mike, Shessi and Atoka220, Thank you very much for the help... It helped me a lot to find the solution.
My desktop speakers were the culprit. Maybe the connecting wires had be stretched...
Changed them and all working now...
Thanks again Le Forban

I have the same problem as the O/P.

I'm a total tech novice. Can one of you kind gents give me a step-by-step on how I could trouble shoot this?

I'm running Windows 11.
