Envelop of installers SOLVED
« on: February 16, 2023, 10:11:12 PM »

Sometimes windows refuse to accept security exclusion. So it would be better to zip the installer exe files.

  • Windows defender always allows to set exclusions and they work.
If you've got any fancy 3rd party antivirus that doesn't obey your commands, you better get rid of it soon.
  • Zipping installers won't change a thing.
Any half-decent antivirus looks into zips anyway.
If your's doesn't: Better get rid of it soon.

No, tried several times.

Go to Start  > Settings  > Update & Security  > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.

Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings, and then under Exclusions, select Add or remove exclusions.

Perhaps I omitted some step ?

Thanks to good soul I received zipped 4.0 installer and it worked after unzipping to exe file OK.
Would you be so kind and try to zip the 4.1 installer.exe file and send it to me, please?

Hello Uzin,

Mike had already written a solution to your problem.

Another possibility would be (if nothing else works for you) switch off the Defender for this installation.

Best regards

Uzin what you're writing makes no sense at all.
Whether you received zip files or not, in order to actually install BAT you have to extract the exe from your zips, which would be when the antivirus would kick in.
If in fact the download of the exe files gets intercepted (and not storing or running the file itself), then you either have the cloud protection turned on or you are running another 3rd party tool in parallel to Defender.
Matter of fact: If Defender would be worried about the installer, it would be worried about the zipped one in the very same way, let alone extracting it.

Last but not least, a few thousand others managed to download and run the installers before you raised this topic.
Please consider that the issue might be on your end.

Well, I succesfully installed BAT up to v.4.2 now, with zipped installers submitted for downloading by user friendly guy.
Since I am not BAT developer, I am now satisfied - I can test jets on my Afghanistan map.
Many thanks to all developed BAT and its content.
Best wishes.

P.S.
Is the discussion on FM of jets and helicopters in BAT  anywhere, please?

In addition to the bat tech support check the Jets board in aircraft sections for discussion on Jets

Thank you.
I am curious which jets in BAT have more or less viable FM of AI, and which have not . Just for saving time in testing the Jet BAT planes on Afghanistan map.

As expected, there was no security issue with the installers:

I used Firefox instead of Microsoft Edge - voila:
installers download freely (upon request),
so I have now Il2  BAT v.4.2.2 hotfix4 installed.
Heureka!
Many thanks to yt2 from Aviaskins for this advice.
