BAT C&C GCI Question
« on: February 18, 2023, 04:55:39 PM »

Can anybody pls explain to me how BAT's Command & Control GCI works?

I'm trying to make a night fighting mission but for some reason the GCI won't tell the enemy bombers coordinates.

The only way it will tell anything is if me and the bomber are both it's 70 or 60 Km range and at that point it will give me BRA.
The main problem is that it does not give me any map grid for targets when i'm further away from the radar.

I have no idea how to set this up to work, i'm starting to get desperate in here ::(

I did, It doesn't work  sadly ..

Quote
"If the player aircraft is more than 100km (default) from the tracking radar object, the GCI will provide updates on enemy a/c within range of the radar using standard map grid references, including altitude and heading information." - BAT C&C Manual page 4

This does not work, or it must be implemented differently in BAT.. one of two, someone must know...

Did you have added some trigger in the same mission?

IIRC the GCI doesn't give a map grid but height, bearing and direction.  The Ground Observer object gives a grid and description but is limited in range.

Well in BAT it doesn't .. but it should. It's in the C&C BAT manual. And yes .. i tried to deal with the problem through other means like ground observers but just like you said .. very limited in range.

I used CGI in some of my missions. Almost sure that there was no map grid info. Altitude, heading - definitely and probably the distance and the bearing as mentioned earlier.

Well .. that means it was always bugged in BAT. Sadly...
I have a working version but it is not compatible with BAT.
I can only hope this will be looked at someday. Fingers crossed. :(
