I've seen a version of what is probably that very photo online. I've noted that most or all pics of warbird cockpits which appear to originate in the factory (careful framing, good lighting, factory fresh appearance, etc.) are without any sights installed. Probably because the sight installation occurs nearer to acceptance by fighter units, as the final fitting out of ancillary equipment.

The best images are of in-use planes.

UPDATE #5, Apr 01, 2023: Due to it using the very same cockpit, I brought the P-35 cockpit class up to the same standard (magnetic compass behavior, expanded 6dof and support for an additional gun sight). I had to create a new him file, due to not including all the same gun sights; the sights supported here are the N-2A for the USA, and the stock ReVi-3 for all others.

The full archive has been updated.

Ideally, down the road an adaptation of the Re.2000 cockpit, with US instruments, would be desirable. Not a high priority for me at this time, though...

Oh, and I do realize that the cowling texture as mapped for the inside view needs to be re-worked, due to the plane parts having different locations on the skin texture. And the pair of small blisters for the gun protuberances need to be removed.

Thanks for all your efforts, WxTech. So, after your last post (mentioning cowling textures to be re-worked), we will soon have an update 6 ???

UPDATE #6, Apr 02, 2023: For the P-35's cowling mesh, removed the pair of small blisters and fixed the material mapping (formerly used part of the wing texture, due to the very different skin layout between P-35 and Hawk 75/P-36).

I've seen this reticle type shown as being an early version included with the N-2 sight. I wonder if I should try to implement it for the P-35, and/or for mission dates earlier than some selected transition.

Thoughts?

I will also add from myself that a day without updating cockpits is a lost day  :D. So act if you still have strength and enthusiasm for this project. I support...

As there was a kind request for it I took the liberty to make a quick adaptation for UP3.4 keeping in mind that in that version of the game we have only the P_36A3, P_36A4 and the P35 that are using the H75A-3 cockpit. I kept the original readme and if you have any objection feel free to take it down.

Everything I offer is free for anyone to use and distribute as they see fit. As soon as my little fledgeling piece of work has flown the coop, it's a free bird out in the wild, and can take any course the fates might decree.

No one has to ask my permission about any of my mods, no matter what. Heck, if you could make a buck or two off it, that's perfectly fine by me.   ;)
