Dorand AR-1 spotter biplane now flyable
« on: June 23, 2023, 03:59:09 AM »

Flyable slot for Dorand AR-1 spotter biplane, Peter Shaw aka Mission_bug. ;)

Please fully remove any versions prior to the dates on links below you had and replace with one of these links, these are the last updates we posted
in the WIP thread so will contain changes to java, meshes and textures used in previous downloads.

Here are download options from both me and Alex (Bison_M) as a number of people had issues with my MediaFire option:

MediaFire link from me for MediFire:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/1ze70frakogs2i0/Dorand+AR-1+cockpit+WIP+17th+June+2023.7z/file

Link from Alex (Bison_M) for 4Shared:
https://www.4shared.com/archive/vqWJeE_Age/Dorand_AR-1_cockpit_WIP_17th_J.html

There were also some weapon issues depending on install so Alex provided a fix:

Link to 01__Weapons_France:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/hkcbixks6iuqbgl/01__Weapons_France.7z/file

Link for fix:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/3el18ejinkv4fka/AR_1_17th_June_2023%252Bweapons_fix.7z/file

For weapon fixes:
The installation method is to make a backup copy of the version you have, unpack the archive and overwrite.
Please see readme for history of revisions and entries for adding the aircraft to your install.

Please see readme included in download for full history of my revisions and entries for adding the aircraft to your install.

3d model of the aircraft Dorand AR-1:Dimon.

Default skin and skinpack:stiv_069

Technical help and collaboration: Alex (Bison_M).

Thank you very much to anyone that made anything I used in this update, some items used from the Breguet BreguetXIV, meshes and textures.

Thanks also go to anyone who made tools and java that helped in this update, too many to mention.

WIP thread for cockpit addition:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,70840.0.html

Hello guys, from my point of view this updated model is now finished, the intention was to make the AI version already available flyable by the pilot and that was completed so I have moved it out of WIP to here in the WWI section. The cockpit is not fully authentic but hopefully serves its purpose.
There have been a number of suggestions for further modifications but these will have to be attempted by others, I did look at options suggested but decided against doing it myself. My naming of the aircraft with twin gun layout is not historical it just gives you a different armament option and the FM is the same for each aircraft from the original mod.

There is already a stationary plane avaialable in my thread here:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,48542.0.html

All information can be found in the WIP thread for this project for any of you who wish to carry this any further, my java files are also included.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Why don you try on BAT WAW? I just tried in modact 5.3 and works very well so there is no reason why it shouldn't work in BAT while it will be more complicated in 4.13

Hello Frankiek, This was tested in BAT #DOF before uploading and also in my own 4.12 with ModAct 5.30, for BAT it needed the weapons adding for which the link is in the thread.  ;)

As much as Mike as a coder has done some amazing things to allow things to work in BAT that is/was originally made as a pack for 4.12 I cannot vouch for anything in regard to the Dorand in a 4.13 install of any kind and do not actually use a 4.13 version myself although I do have a version of each patched up to 4.14 I do not make or test anything beyond 4.12.2 so can only confirm for the two installs mentioned above.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.  ;D

Glad you like it, the mod had been around the threads for so long and I just had to do something with it to bring some closure to the project, finally I decided to give it a cockpit to at least make it flyable, thanks are really to all those who brought it to us in the first place, I just progressed it a little bit further but it probably still requires more work to make it complete.  ;)

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.  ;D

I would like to ask a few questions regarding the installing of this aircraft to BAT mod (4.2.2). I guessed rightly I should put it in ROF3 folder and add all the respected values meant for air.ini, weapons.ru_properties etc. Thing I don't understand is where am I meant to drop the France_weapons pack exactly. Files aren't really compatible with the other ones, neither does it show what quantity and the rest of the weapons. Could somebody explain it in short terms because I'm obviously missing something, and I'm following directions from this guide here on how to install additional aircraft https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,1353.0.html, and still getting 60% crash https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,22.0.html? I'm trying without much success for last few days to install this aircraft, but it just won't work.

A 60% crash? Did you add the Flight Model to Classes-FMs folder?

I did actually. Just overwritten that one I already placed in no luck. Also, I don't get what is the deal with weapons pack and where to place it after two days of tinkering, so some advice would be most helpfull.

Just hold out a little bit longer and this job (making it work in BAT) will be done for you...

As Mission_bug has already said, on 4.12.2m, BAT 4.1_DOF, it works well without any error messages.

Thanks everyone for these changes. The plane works fine in BAT DOF. You won't likely overheat it, or rip the wings off easily. I could adapt my FE2D campaign as an AR1 campaign. That's far more than two weeks in the future though. Others are welcome to have a go.

cheers

David
