I would just like to add that the DEP problem is not always due to people fiddling with settings they don't understand. If you use Avast you will find that every time it upgrades it automatically changes the DEP setting so that Il-2 is blocked. I suspect that other security programs do the same.

I used free Avast on my "gaming" PC since last year and DEP settings remained unchanged so far, in the first option "...for essential..."

Well, that defeats me. I certainly didn't change the setting. Why would I?

Hi flyers

Many thanks for this DEP procedure
Yesterday all my versions of IL2 46 (HSFX BAT VP Mod...) were unable to launch only my 4.15 version was serviceable and my computer was the same that the previous day!!!
I tried to restore it at a date of december 2023 with no sucess
But thanks to SAS and the "DEP fix", all is again operationnal!!! :)
I donot know why it happenned but once again SAS is THE SOLUTION

I'm pretty sure I followed all the steps above, but Il246.exe doesn't show up.  The desktop shortcut is added, but doesn't point to an actual file.  What am I missing?

The name of the file is il2fb.exe so why are you looking for il246.exe?

In any case there is no need to set a DEP exception for IL2fb.exe if you set your DEP for essential windows programmes only. You need to set a DEP exception only if you allow DEP for everything that you don't really need to
