Alex's Work In Progress Skins
« on: September 24, 2023, 04:23:29 AM »

A fellow going by the name of "HJM" Suggested that I dip my toes into the world of "semi-historical skins" Notably one from the Red tails movie of 2012.
Granted its still a long way before I'll be able to give y'all the power to deflect 30mms like .22 LRs ;)

Though maybe some of y'all fancy Leaving your bombers to fend for themselves while you scram and take down a couple of 109s?  :-|

Current WIP:

That P-51 Squadron (awaiting Identification) that left the folks of the 381st BG to die in the 2012 movie "Red Tails"

Edit:(still trying to find a clean full body of a mustang people  ::( )

Thanks !
The result seems to be decent considering that it is very difficult to make bare metal skins .

Hi Alex

You are talking about 354th Fighter Group?

If so I'll take a look through my book collection.

I'm sure you already have this site bookmarked.

I think there's been a mistake here
I meant to say the 354th Fighter squadron not the 354th group or fighter wing  :-*

354th Fighter Squadron (WR) / 355 th FG

Just from my experience on the 55th FG Skinpack and research, it's best to go for research/search querries on the Fighter Group, even if you're just after
one of their Squadrons. Usually the sources are collated under the whole Group, with Veterans Associations Pages split into sub pages of the Squadrons.

Check the Wiki Page for 355th FG, for Veterans Pages, Association Sites, Publications
Some Association Sites you can still access through Web Archived Links even when long gone, I had luck at the 55th FG

2 publications on the 355th FG and WW2 in the Bibliography section listed, Steeple Morton Strafers for +100$ Woohoo, the other sells for 13€
(The pain of passion, it's cheap, really, some WW2-Aviation topic Books sell for +500, me and my Me262 freakdom or RLM-Paints related publications)

https://www.zvab.com/products/isbn/9780912173023
https://www.zvab.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=31323029600&searchurl=ds%3D20%26kn%3DSteeple%2BMorden%2BStrafers%26sortby%3D20&cm_sp=snippet-_-srp1-_-title1

Pure 354th FS Search will be harder

If you're already fed up, scratch it.
