"ButtKicker" Support
« on: October 04, 2023, 08:44:20 PM »

Hi, I was considering taking my experience to the next level by either buying or making my own "ButtKicker" system (haptic transducers). However, out of the box, it doesn't appear that any of the official software supports IL2 1946 (ButtKicker HaptiConnect, Sim Racing Studio, SimShaker Wings). How have people been able to get it to work with 1946 (if at all), and how much control over the effects do you have? Thanks :)

Hi;
  I wonder if you mean you availed one like simshaker, its for sale if im not wrong but is it software alone or if it works with il2 '46
is a big question. From its name shaker how would it be possible without even having a vibrating mechanism inside the JS. That would take a Genius to build one using like one in the cp and syncing that mech into the JS placing inside or maybe in the Joystik base. I once ordered a vibrating JS but it doesnt work in il2 '46 so I returned it because its defective on one side of the yaw (lucky reason to return) its Ch*nese anyway.

I use a buttkicker with 1946.

1946 doesn't have any interface application like simshaker, so there are no 'effects' that can be controlled.  The only control you have is the volume feeding the buttkicker, which then responds to the game sounds. You can tailor the vibrations to some extent with the frequency filters on the buttkicker.

In my opinion, it's still worth it to feel the engine and guns etc.

Regards,

Ah ok, so I would pretty much be stuck with the default "feeling" of the balance of everything.

I imagine I need to connect the ButtKicker to the orange (center/subwoofer) audio port on my motherboard? And to modify the frequencies, what software can be used to do that?

I use Voicemeeter Banana to route the audio and eq it. I have an internal sound card on the motherboard plus a headphone USB audio device (Arctis pro).

The computer audio is routed in Banana to both devices, with the channel to the internal soundcard having a low pass (or high cut) at about 100hz. This means just the lowest frequencies go to the buttkicker. The channel is set to mono as buttkicker is mono.

The buttkicker is connected to the line out of the motherboard soundcard

There is a way to exercise more control over the sounds, by way of modding classfiles e.g. I've split out the engine and weapon sounds. Never released it as I'm not sure there are any shaker users left.

If you get one, pm me if you want more info.
