Tips for non combat missions

As from the title, what tips would you suggest for transport or recon missions especially like transporting troops in a UH 1 or doing a scenic mountain flight. Thanks

Hi John, sorry i just saw you PM. In my Wings over 'Nam mission pack there are some transport/troop transport missions if you want ;)
At least one with the Huey, one with the C-123 and one with the C-135.

Hi John, a man after my own heart! I build a lot of transport and recon missions - actually quite a big subject - but a few mission building tips:

1. With (presumably) no combat, it's all about the visuals. So, choose good quality maps, hills and mountains look better than flat. Try to find maps with big airfields to give you plenty of taxi room - starting inside a hanger with lots of ground crew is good. Don't fly too high (ruins the view), and don't fly in the middle of the day - longer shadows look good.

2. Same with your aircraft - look for good cockpits. Good recent addition is the Storch (even has working float fuel gauges on the wings). Look for anything mace has done - he usually adds a recon loadout and cameras e.g. Project Beartrap, Vulcan/Victor/Harrier. A special mention for his recent drone, which is great fun!

3. Use message triggers. Adding these can really spin out an otherwise mundane mission. e.g. start with a point-to point transport job - at point #2 add a message trigger to lead you on to a different task, and so on. Before you know it your mission pans out to a long haul with multiple tasks and objectives.

Yep! Exactly as cbradbury said and your transport mission will look much much better and be more fun as well. I usually use a mix of all the scenery details + recon targets depending on the mission tasks.
I don't do many of them, but you can surely create amazing stories in the background of your mission. Il-2 is all about this: creating your own adventures and your own worlds.  8)

Is there a way to add points or victory rewards in a single mission for something that is none combat?

Missions with cargo, paratroopers, recon, or search and rescue.

Yes. You get 50 points for hitting a 'recon' target objective. If you check the 'primary' option you will get a 'mission complete' message as well.

Check out the Command & Control Recon objects as well. They can add points when the player achieves  their objectives.

Challenging weather? I remember dynamic weather and weather front in C&C, it was interesting. Hopefully, still work in BAT.

Recon - if it's a high-speed recon a/c (Mossie, Ar 234, etc), add enemy interceptors with a max speed close to your speed. Just for some thrill.

Yes, dynamic weather and weather front both work in BAT.
