Edit .mat files?
« on: December 08, 2023, 02:37:39 AM »

How do i open and edit .mat files guys?
I downloaded Bitberry but all that happens is it shows the contents of the .mat file but doesnt allow me to edit the text at all? I see there's another app out there called Matlab - should I use that instead?
If I simply open the file in windows it just opens with the MS MAT Office interface and no visible text?

A .mat file is simple ASCII text. Any text editor will do; I use Notepad for such small files. You could associate the .mat extension to whatever is your preferred editor; right-click on a .mat file name, and 8n the dialog box select the option to always use this to open this file type, and then select the app from the list. Thereafter, double-clicking a .mat file will always open it with your desired editor.

Always try to open an unknown file with a text editor. You never know...

Yes if you have MS Access installed Windows won't give you an option to open MAT files in Win10 you need to go in settings, then go to apps and features, there open default apps and click on choose default app by file type where you can change the association
