Need Monitor/TV Advice Please
« on: December 10, 2023, 09:24:44 AM »

I “repurposed” a 32” Samsung TV as my “new” PC Monitor.  And I am stuck on 1366x768 rez which kinda sucks as I was getting 1920x1080 out of my old 24” monitor.
The TV is about 5 years old.

So…:
    - Am I missing a setting?
    - Is this TV too big? What’s typical size these days?
    - Should I just buy a new monitor?  Feel free to offer suggestions.

(This is not at all my area of expertise, so thanks in advance.)

I did the exact same thing some years back  and had the same issue.

I am making the assumption that you know how to get into the IL2 game files.

first I went into the computers " setting" control in the lower left of screen just above the Start
and in it changed the  "display resolution" to 1600 x 1024  and orientation to Landscape.

I then went into the game file  and in  the 'Conf ' file at the top in [windows]  changing the width= 1600 height=1024

Well if resources aren't an issue then a brand new 32' monitor will always be better than a "repurposed" TV 5 years old. When I am in a mood of displacing my laptop (I don't like to play from the sofa) I also use my 52' HD Samsung TV connected through HDMI and can still use 1920x1080. I suppose that it will all come down to the TV screen specs but if your TV is full HD it should then be able to run at your usual monitor resolution

I am not a fan of curved screens in that format.

If there is a electronics store near you go and see if they got a few and take a good look from the distance and angle you normaly sit on, on those smaller screens the curving doesnt add anything.

32" Samsung sounds like a HD Ready TV wich means max resolution is 1366x768.

Game runs in 4K rez here but i think some skins dont work with 4K as they sometimes apear all white, including some interior cockpits dails and gunsights

So...the new monitor looks great - running at 2400 X 1080.

I tested out some more recent games/flight sims and they all look VERY nice.

Anything I need to know for IL-2 1946/BAT from a settings perspective?

Thanks in advance.

No, just to edit the Conf.ini for the correct resolution and tweak the setting in your Graphicscards control pannel so it maximizes/enhances the image quality.
