Performance comparison between versions
« on: December 14, 2023, 12:18:38 PM »

Does BAT 4.1 run better than 4.2? Back in 2021 when I had BAT 4.1, it ran smoothly with almost no frame drops. But for BAT 4.2, as soon as I even spawn more than 12 planes, the framerate begins to drop. Am I tweaking or does anyone else report that BAT 4.1.3 runs better?

Ctrl + Alt + Delete to open task manager, and check in the task manager if something else is sucking up resources from your CPU or Memory, maybe there is some other software in the background causing this problem.

Always first make sure that something else is not causing the problem, seen plenty of times that people had performance isues with games etc. and it turned out to be a program (for example anti virus software or worse, malware/spyware or even a malware crypto miner) running in the background.

If you have an up-to-date version of Windows 10 or 11, there isn't much of a reason to have an antivirus outside of the default Windows Defender. Most of them do exactly the same things, and the ones that do extra are almost all paid.

On average, the average average averages, averagely, the average average of all averages.

Nope, not even after uninstalling Avast did my FPS change. So it's either the fact 4.1.3 was more optimized or it's another application like White & FL said.

I'm a "video creator". I'm uploading videos to youtube.
The PC is an "i7 4790 CPU@3.6GHz" that is about 10 years old.
And Windows 8.1.

I tried using "BAT 4.2.2", but the FPS drop was noticeable in various situations.
The main game is "BAT 4.1.3", but sometimes... .. .. Depending on the situation, "Vp mod" is used.
I'd like to install a new mod, but I feel like it's putting a heavy burden on my old PC.
In my case, I think that everything can be resolved with a "new PC". .. ..
What kind of specs does "Froge"'s PC have?

I'm Japanese and use "google translate".

Which package are you using?
Seriously, there's a massive difference between complexity of BAT WAW and other modules.
It's important to know whether the issues you are facing happen in WAW only, in certain modules, or in all of them.
TGA is probably the smallest, I'd suggest you try that one for comparison.

This test is important to know which direction we need to dig deeper into.

I have an I5-4670k & GTX970. Before, I played BAT 4.1.3 with a GTX660 with the same CPU. That might account to the performance difference though.

I would tend to agree that BAT 4.2.2 WAW module is the heaviest one with a decrease of FPS when in use

Question stays: How's the TGA performance of BAT 4.2.2 HF 4 for those who report 4.2 related issues?

Same here, 4.1 runs like silk, 4.2.2 much heavier
