Expanding on prop and gear effects on ground
« on: January 24, 2024, 09:35:43 PM »

Over the past number of months I've been expanding on the effects generated by props and gear during take-off and taxying. In Gear.class this involved adding new checks on the map's CAMOUFLAGE, the weather type and if on the "concrete" plate type.

In brief, if it's raining a new prop spray effect replaces the longer lasting dust. If on a concrete runway/taxiway, a subtler dust is raised, or none at all. For desert mPs, a new denser dust effect is used, except for concrete where a subtler dust is generated.

Today it occurred to me that, like the concrete plates, PCP plates should be treated differently. I thought that it might involve creating a new 'definition', or including that type with concrete. I checked Plate.class to see about doing something along these lines, and was gratified to see that any plate whose name starts with "PCP" is already treated like concrete. Yay!

This means, for instance, that the belly sparks effect created on concrete occurs for Marsten mat also. And of course my new treatment for concrete applies.
