Missile defence capability...a kind of
« on: April 24, 2024, 03:31:57 PM »

Just another "discovery" in BAT for me.

While playing and tinkering with my missions in JTW, I noticed that my wingmen occasionally fire their air-to-air missiles near the home bases in the absence of enemy aircraft...
I looked again in the mess of lines and dots in FMB and discovered some V-1 rockets targeting the base. (I tried to imitate the missile strikes against the aerodrome and forgot about it in the subsequent editions). AI wingmen responded to the threat and fired their missiles - good boys.

Then I tried to play it myself and defend the base against dozens of V-1s using several aircraft equipped with air-to-air guided missiles. It's feasible yet with some difficulties. You have to choose the right distance and angle - as against any other target. An additional problem is that V-1 is hard to see and it has no map icon, so the buzzer is your only assistant.

All in all, a "missile defence" is possible in BAT. With enough imagination, we can make some interesting missions with it.

Maybe somone could try to give an icon to the V1...as they were also used as target maybe some code from the RP-54 could be used....

Just to add that I tried also the "lazy mode" shooting at incoming V-1s sitting in a jet or a chopper on the runway, without taking off. Again, it was after observing AI doing such things.
Alas, no success for me. None of the V-1s were shot down from the ground.
