Thanks for the feedback Dimlee!
I'll add them to the list. Somethings like river color are out of my control, and I tried to make a river port near Haiphong, but also added the fictional coastal port for playability. I'll try to raise up the islands in Halong Bay, they look interesting, but if it affects the water level I'll leave them flat.

I have been to the Islands in Halong bay and they are really beautiful rocky outcrops from the sea. There are a few hills on the bigger one maybe a few hundred meters high.

Yes, one of the best scenery I have seen in my maritime career. Unique place.

There is this interesting map -"Kuril Islands and Attu" by Kirby.
Volcanos and vulcanic islands look good (as good as possible in this old sim). But they are much larger than Halong Bay islands, of course.

The small chip in the centre is the aircraft carrier.

In the meantime, I sent my Thud in autopilot mode from Takhli, through the Ridge to Hanoi and Haiphong and then down over the border with Laos and Cambodia to Tan Son Nhut. I didn't notice any issues but will check the track once again with a large cup of tea.

No Halong Bay.  I tried for an hour to raise up the height to make it like some of the limestone pillars, but it takes the sea with it.  I got one of bigger islands looking... meh, but the juice isn't worth the squeeze and I flattened it.  I looked at the other North Vietnam maps and the elevation is marginally raised on the islands, but the sea is raised with it making it look terrible.
I figured flat islands is preferable to unrealistic sea levels and black triangles.

The rivers are too narrow for any ports in Saigon or Haiphong. All the rivers on this map are too narrow and small.  If the player wants to add them in the mission editor they are welcome to, I set up some infrastructure.

Keep the suggestions and fixes coming!

Dimlee, those trees by AX33, I couldn't remove.  I thought it was a texture thing, but no matter which one picked they wouldn't go away.
I could either leave them alone and not draw attention to them since they are up in China, or... see below.
I found an object plate that faded enough and an ice flow object that looked like it could be a reef or atoll or something.  Maybe they are random reef islands? Or... something.

Those trees are hard to notice and probably most players will never see them. Not a big problem, in my opinion.

Okay, I'll just leave them as is and delete the half assed islands, and hope no one else has your attention to detail Dimlee!  Thanks.

I fixed the roads and bridges in Laos and Cambodia and added some other details.  Now to finish North/South Vietnam and Thailand and add Chu Lai Air Base.

North Vietnam and Thailand roads and bridges fixed.  Along with some other cosmetics.
Turns out I labeled Thud Ridge a bit too dramatically.  I had read the book a couple of times years ago.
Thud Ridge is a... ridge, and not a pass through mountains like I had... duh  :P

Here is the "improved" "accurate" Thud Ridge.

Entering Thud Ridge. Follow light beige dirt "trail."

Thud Ridge

Looking at Thud Ridge from the South.

Head South, straight ahead is Hanoi!

OK, I checked this track yesterday and didn't see any strange things or "artefacts". It's so good to see the scenery that is not repetitive as in many other maps.

Just one thought: most (or all?) roads are surrounded by those wide "dirt trails". In South Vietnam and Laos, it could be considered as the impact of defoliants. But not in the North or Thailand?

Thanks for the feedback Dimlee.  I appreciate that you enjoyed the scenery's "natural" look.

I didn't think of the dirt roads being "defoliant" wish I would have thought of that before.  I am going to leave the roads as they are since I had to go through and put the dirt down on each meter of road as a texture and spend hours doing it.  I don't like when roads go through trees, which a lot of the roads had been doing.  I also thought it would help in navigation, following a road and find truck parks or targets along the side of the road.

I managed to remove those trees up by China with the blank plate object, don't know why I didn't think of that before.

I revamped Phu Bai Combat Base.  Enjoy!
