Using the catapult to fly out of Chu Lai and the arrestor system for landing is a kick in the pants, adds a whole new dynamic to missions!

When I saw you added those, I thought this is something I want/must try out.

Da Nang Air Base

Before circa 1965, single runway

After July 1966, double runway.  Still a lot to do, at least I have an idea of the layout.  Just to add the taxiways, aprons, buildings, dispersal areas, buildings, roads, roads, buildings and buildings along the road.

Pray for me. So... I was basing my layout of Da Nang on this image.  Which was taken from the North looking South, and I am building the base from the South looking North.  So now I have to rotate as much as I can 180* without destroying everything.  I will save it 30x and make 12 backups before I begin.

Here is the actual layout... where was this when I needed it?  Oh right... under Da Nang PORT images, not Da Nang airbase images... ughhhhhhhhh.  I thought about leaving it and hoping no one was the wiser, but I know if I saw somebody made this and it was backwards I would think they were a talented moron and resent their existence.

Checked out this map for the first time last night.
One thing I noticed is the far forest texture should be darker.
The underlying forest texture should be one that represents jungle canopy, at the moment when you fly over the forest/jungle you can clearly see individual trees and the ground texture.
Possibly the Slot wood texture is more appropriate.
I recommend trying the textures used in WxTech's re-doing of the New Guinea and Kokoda maps.

Anyway that's just my thoughts, I'll be implementing these changes regardless of agreeance of what I've just mentioned.

At some stage I would like to give this map milky coloured rivers.

Thanks for the feedback genXgamer.  I despise textures that don't have any "depth" to them.  The Green Hell Map is great, but I want depth to my trees, not just some green sludge/slime texture.  I want to create the feeling of "natural" randomness.  I have probably touched 90% of the map putting trees and textures down randomly "drawing" and replacing the bare green empty textures that stretched to the horizon with, so boring.  I have looked at probably 100 textures from all sorts of Pacific maps from Green Hell to Burma to China maps and so on, and all sorts of European maps to try and find some city textures.  I prefer my random textures and trees to flying over textured trees.  Go ahead and change and show me what you mean :)

I think I finished Da Nang.  I went through each airfield and covered up all the random trees that come with textures that piss me off when I see them on a taxiway on any map.  Going through and making sure roads connect and taxiways are aligned and just making sure all the cosmetic changes are happening.  I'll standby and see what genXgamer is going to be doing.

I'm drawing from my vast Vietnam knowledge gained from watching RAMBO and Missing in Action films.

Okay here's a couple of options which is a matter of personal preference, of course everything here can be further tweaked.

Original

Everything the same, only far texture darkened

Sparse, not very jungle like

Different forest, more dense and jungle like
