A tribute to a fine pilot, and a gorgeous aircraft...
« on: May 28, 2024, 06:47:34 AM »

Afternoon friends and members of SAS,

On the 25th May 2024, Spitfire LF.IXe MK356 crashed at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire. The aircraft was piloted by Squadron Leader Mark Long and sadly he lost his life whilst flying this great aircraft.

So far the MOD has kept quiet on the matter and the investigation is still ongoing as to the precipitating cause of the crash. This is a historic but sad moment in the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's history as it's the first time they've lost an aircraft but also a pilot in tandem as the BBMF have held an impeccable record of efficiency regarding the maintenance of their machines...

But as a tribute to both Sqn Leader Mark Long and the Spitfire I present a skin file of MK356.

Blanks included.

Get this lady here ---> https://www.mediafire.com/file/w0zjgiuy4dupoaq/Spitfire_Mk.IXe_BBMF_Sqn_Ldr_Mark_Long.rar/file

P.S Please forgive the wonkiness of the serial codes and fuselage numbers as the Mk.IXe's 3d is abhorrently awful when it comes to skinning the type.

Thanks Pio... I felt I had to make the skin, plus I don't make many Mk.IX's due to the terrible 3do as mentioned but I did try my best here. :)

I lose a little chunk of myself when any of these old warbirds has an accident.
So sad for the pilot and his family , and for the entire warbird community.
