Early Bf109 - disable nose gun jamming?
« on: June 17, 2024, 12:41:36 AM »

I've been trying for several days to figure out how to decompile and edit the BF109_FM file (which is where I assume I'd need to look) in my BAT WAW install, but I'm no developer and I've never modded before, so I suppose in the meantime I might ask around here if someone could do what I'm trying.

The engine mounted guns of the early Jumo powered 109s are very unreliable - which I understand is historically accurate - but in terms of gameplay I would honestly prefer if they didn't jam, so that I could actually have some fun using them. Particularly the MG17 in the B-2 which seems like it can't get through more than 3 rounds without malfunctioning, and would otherwise be very much appreciated on a plane with such minimal armament (even if I have managed to down a good few Polikarpovs with it). If someone could come up with a small mod to disable this jamming feature, I would be very grateful.

Anyways, happy flying :)

The guns jamming in early 109s is controlled by the Java code, not the flight model.

Unfortunately, making such edits to the Java code takes an unfathomable amount of time, even as much as... 30 seconds.

Mod released here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,72633.msg790603.html#msg790603

Enjoy ;)

AHH much gratitude, thank you!!! I figured it would take an experienced modder hardly any time, I just didn't want to bother anyone with such a tiny request that i thought i could do myself. A modder I am not! ;D
