Hi guys
While flying a mission last night, one of our pilots (it had to be an escort fighter didn't it) flying a Japanese J2M was paying no attention to some Russian Laggs that were threatening our bombers.  When we asked our escort to clear our tails he announced "your tail is clear"
"No it bloody isn't I have three lags on my ass" 
"Where? I don't see any enemy planes in the air or on the map"
"look out of your window. Nine o'clock co-alt at 500 yards"
"No don't see a thing"

This went on. Finally the escort landed and respawned into a second J2M and this time
"Oh shit! I see the enemy planes now"

What causes this?  It's not the first time it has happened to this particular pilot.
