Regia Marina Pack installation issue

Hello.

I believe I made a mistake while installing the Regia Marina Pack, mainly with the goal of adding their new Aquila model (which to my surprise, seemingly isn't BAT 4.2.3).
I followed the instructions in both the post for it and in the text file included in the install (and mistakenly removed the text for the base-game GerCarriers Aquila that's a repainted Illustrious mainly under the belief that it may somehow cause conflict through shared/similar names, though I believe I managed to fix/restore that as it's no longer appearing in the log), but whenever I boot up the game I get a crash at 70%.

Yeah, well, installing ships is the most complex thing, especially on a heavy install like BAT is. You have to know what you are doing and then still be able to do some try/error back and forth. That's why I am not too thrilled about dealing with too many ship additions either: I simply don't like the effort.

In this case, some ships are in, some are not, coming from an older instance. Now the ship pack has evolved in parallel and you first need to sort out what is what and what already exists and what doesn't. Especially in ship.ini. If you have no clue, this can drive you insane.  It is not easy. That's the crux with a "ship pack" like this. The moment you add it, it can evolve and you may have to backtrack again.

In your situation, do not try to "repair" the mess. Go back to a clean slate again and start anew, if you know what to do with the ships.ini.

Or you could wait for a little while for BAT 4.3 revision to come. I will have a look at that Aquila model, now that I know about it, maybe I can can squeeze that in.

Pretezldarter - all the RM ships in the pack, with the exception of Aquila, are already in BAT. If you don't want to wait for the next update, do as follows:


1. Listen to Andy - he speaks with great wisdom - restore to a working copy of BAT, deleting all the stuff you added.

2. Download this:

3. Extract the folder and guide.

4. Place the 'Aquila_CV' folder into BATMODS.

5. Add the required ini entries as detailed in the txt file I included - BUT BACKUP THE .INIS FIRST.

6. Activate the 'Aquila_CV' folder via jgsme.


That should work. I can't test because I am staying with 4.2.2 hotfix 4 (at least for now). If it does not work, deactivate the folder again and restore your .ini backups.

This info makes my life sooooo much easier, thanks for telling me before I have to look into the ships abyss  :P
So yes, I think I can add the new Aquila for 4.3

You have made a mistake in the ships.ini entries somehow.

I went back to this over and over trying to figure out how I possibly could have screwed up the entries copied directly from the install instructions, when suddenly I got the bright idea to put a "!" in front of the ShipsAsheRM folder so that it's classes load before the BAT classes, and lo and behold, it works now...

I feel like an idiot

No - I am the idiot. I forgot to mention to try that if my install failed. Glad you got it working anyway.
