Sun.class mod
« on: October 22, 2024, 04:49:46 PM »

This mod has a few adjustments and additions made to Sun.class, some of which have already been adopted in B.A.T. This may not be final, depending on feedback regarding the moonlight illumination, for which three brightness options are accessible via a conf.ini entry in the [Mods] section. Additionally, I have reduced the degree of illumination decrease under clouds when the poorer weather settings are selected. And when the Sun is close to the horizon, the old red hue of environment illumination has been made more golden, and the degree of specularity is reduced (which lessens the amount of additional reddish light that formerly looked excessive on planes.)

Sun.class adjustments by WxTech

This should be compatible with all game versions going back to 4.12.

This Java class calculates the disposition and lighting by the Sun and Moon.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Changes:
- Adjust the way the landscape lighting is applied for Poor, Blind, Rain/Snow and Thunder weather. In a nutshell, the degree of darkness below the clouds is reduced, and the illumination changes over a larger range of altitude.
- Reduce the amount of specularity caused by the Sun when low in the sky.
- Add two additional algorithms for calculating the illumination from the Moon, and the means of selecting from all three via a conf.ini entry.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the [Mods] section in conf.ini add the following two lines. (The first is a guide to remind what the three values do.)

//MoonlightBrightness=1  //0=dark; 1=moderate (stock 4.12/B.A.T., and default), 2=bright
MoonlightBrightness=2
