Tempo A,E,T400 I believe that this vehicle is one of the icons of German motoring and this is one of several reasons why it should find its place in our game.
It was used by civilians, lower level officials (forestry, railways, police) and the military and its career spanned over 40 years.
Description
Founded in 1928 in Hamburg, Vidal & Sohn Tempo -Werk GmbH started producing delivery vans. Due to the fact that cars with less than 4 wheels and an engine capacity of less than 200 cm³ were exempt from taxes and could be driven without a driving license, the company's management, taking into account the high market demand for such vehicles, undertook the production of three-wheelers with an appropriate engine capacity. The first three-wheelers created by combining a motorcycle with a platform produced by this company were the T6 and T10. In 1955, there was a merger with Hanomag, in 1965 both companies were taken over by Rheinstal and finally in 1971 by Daimler Benz. Production of the T 400 three-wheeler began in 1938. Drive: 400 cm³ petrol engine, power 12 HP. The front wheel was driven in the engine-gearbox-chain system, with the chain housing as a load-bearing part and the front wheel being articulated with the rest of the vehicle. By 1941, 790 Tempo T 400 cars were produced. They were produced in several versions: as a delivery van, as a van/minibus and even as an emergency medical vehicle. The chassis and body of the Tempo T 400 were made entirely of steel, unlike the earlier Tempo (plywood plus steel). The three-wheelers were still produced (newer designs) in the 1960s and not only in Germany. Licensed three-wheelers were produced in India and Hungary. Currently, a few Tempo T 400 three-wheelers are in the possession of collectors and also in German automotive museums.
