Sound is erratic

Sound is erratic while looking forward but is fine looking left or right. What could be causing this? WIN10 SoundBlaster FX 5.1 soundcard.

I do remember that I had such a problem. But I can't remember what was the solution. Most probably, I tinkered either with sound controls in the game or with conf.ini.

You  are not telling us much about your settings or if you are using a specific sound mod. In any case I would suggest for you to start with the in game sound setting screen putting everything to default (whatever that means) eax off and taking out any sound mod you may have. If with just the basic on you still have a problem you may want to have a look at the sound settings in windows

No MOD's except complete BAT 4 mod. Which Windows sound settings should I check?

Did you try to use the in game defaults?

Yes. WIN Sound Mixer isn't interfering. The problem exist with my surround sound, and it even exist when I switch sound to the VIZIO TV's sound. I have NVIDIA GPU's. 3 out of 8 flight stations have developed this problem.

try not to use surrounds or other fancy effects from windows or the sound card software, the IL-21946 sound engine is very basic  using mono tracks that play best at 22050, I would say that sound wise we had better treatment in the old days of IL-2 Sturmovik and windows XP  only more recent sound mods have introduced stereo tracks

Thanks flying H. I will try this tomorrow and hear what happens. Frankiek. I have been using the surround sound for several years and no problems. Every thing works well on my other sims that are just about the same builds. There may have been an update some where.

I had this problem before.

It started when I was going back and forth between using headphones and just speakers.

The sound being set up to be directional will only have certain sounds come from the direction you are looking.

I had to set up the windows sound to be stereo so all the sound was coming from the front.

I thought I had all the sound directional before without having, for instance, just the engine sound if your head is looking forward, like it used to be all even for me.  Not sure how to reset everything.

Wing Walker, it might be something in WINDOWS or maybe even the BIOS. This occurs using the surround sound on my flight station and even my 40" Vizio speakers when selected. I've uninstalled the BAT version and tried the STEAM version. Same thing.

You can try these settings from the in game sound setup screen
Hardware setup button then sound setup button then audio
Sound engine DirectX
Playback Channel 16 (you can also use 32 but you won't notice any difference and 16 save some resources)
Audio quality 22050 (you can also use 44100 but most of the sample wav files are mono so using 44100 don't add quality)
Speakers type I am using Destop speakers even though yo can try surround but i would suggest to start with desktop
Enable extension switch off
I also use a sound blaster on the desktop and bang olufsen on the laptop and with these settings i never faced a problem.
