Thanks Frankiek. I believe I tried those but not positive. I'll try what you posted tomorrow. Just for curiosity I ran Il2 HTFX from a thumbdrive and the sound was good, but no variation looking left to right. It was the same no matter which way, although the guns were silent. I may try re-installing the drivers for the soundcard as well.

Well I hate to admit this but the audio plug in the back of the PC was in the wrong place. I created so much work for myself, which is getting more common the older I get.

Actually I forgot about the other PC with the same problem. Do to my extensive research on the other PC

I deleted all the sound drivers in the Device Manager and restarted the PC and the issue was fixed. No erratic sounds looking straight ahead.

Well that worked for a short time. I replaced the master speaker for my logitech X-530 5.1 surround sound and it works every time now.
