B.A.T. v4.3 "DANGER ZONE"
« on: December 09, 2024, 05:03:43 AM »

NEW +++ BAT 4.3 DANGER ZONE +++

B.A.T. v4.3 "DANGER ZONE"

Requirements:
You need to have a working, clean BAT v4.2 or any of the 4.2.x updates

BAT 4.3 replaces all the previous updates 4.2.1, 4.2.2, 4.2.3! it contains everything of these packs!

This decision was taken to reduce the number of packages needed to install an up-to-date BAT game. It makes things easier, as "forgetting" to install one of the packs in between was one of the prime reasons for trouble reported. I know that this package is rather big, but compared to other games of similar nature with ultra HD skins and whatnot, it is worth its weight as you get thousands of planes slots for free, all in one install, ready to roll.
And you get a WAW only option.

note:
Windows may be a bit uncomfortable about downloading the installer .exe.
The files are safe and this is a false alarm.

As usual, download to location on the Windows exception list and add the installer as an exception or simply override the Windows warning when running it.

It's a false positive.
The file is safe. It's only Microsoft's Defender and one more oddball who get triggered, and false positives unfortunately are quite a common thing for NSIS installers (see https://nsis.sourceforge.io/NSIS_False_Positives)

How do I install an update?

1. download the 8 files into one folder (exe + 7 zip - make sure, this folder is on your windows defender exception list!)
2. deactivate all JSGME Mods for safety
3. run the installer exe and direct the extraction into your BAT install
4. select if you want all for era modules or WAW only.
5. enjoy

Note:
-this update will install a new set of .ini files! Any changes you made to air.ini, stationary.ini... etc. will be overwritten.
-this update will automatically deactivate JSGME applications you may have active.

During installation, you will be asked, if you want to install everything, or just WAW.

By choosing WAW only, everything that is not part of WAW era module will be deleted, also older material you may have from older updates. You will not be able to play these era modules.

What's new, you ask? Let's have a look...

New selector:

The new selector v5.2.2 by Mike can allocate the maximum RAM your system can allow for the game, automatically (default setting). You leave it at that and see how that goes for you. But if you wish, you can also set a fixed value like before.

If you experience strange crashes, maybe switching to a fixed RAM can help (1024MB is suggested). Try what works best for you.

Maps:

The world of IL-2:  551 maps total, all available in all modules.

DOF

TGA

411 slots

planes:

A lot of these civilian planes are inspired by Frankenplanes of Jir. As you may know, he has passed to bluer skies a while ago and left a vast selection of quite many Frankenplanes. I was browsing his works and got stuck with his airliner types, like the Dewoitine and the Fokker, or the Lockheed and the Northrop. I decided to dedicate this "Airliners of the 1930s" package to him.  They are all reworked and polished up, got new FMs, new cockpits and skins.

Are they perfect? Way no, still Frankenplanes, but I did what I could with what I had and I think these birds are just what you need for a make-pretend joyride through the past of civil aviation, when the skies were dangerous, but dreams were flying high. Here's to you, Jir.

Some FM rework or tweak to adjust performance to more realistic figures.
Correcting propellor turn directions where necessary.

ships:

Miles M.38 Messenger, 1942
DAR 10, 1943
Curtiss P-40S Floatplane, 1942

I revived some formerly "lost" slots, whose files were still burried inside the archives:

He-111 H22 as historical V1 carrier
AVIA Ba.122 Early
He-162 B5 (regular wings+V-Tail)

There are now so many fictional float plane versions, like the new P-40S. I created a new section for them:

     *Fictional_Experimental_Seaplanes *

You can find them near the bottom of the list, after all the "1946" sections and the helicopters and airships.

New Asura cockpits
He 70, He 100, He 112

Japanese early bomber cockpit and FM project
As per TGA description

New DC-3/C-47 cockpits
For existing slots I retained the existing 3d and loadouts to support existing skin collections and missions.
But all C-47 slots, old and new, have received the new cockpit, which was more important for me.

ships:

KM S-100 Schnellboot

RM Aquila CV new original 3d

Dimon's new submarine package - German, Royal Navy, Regia Marina and finally an actual Japanese submarine!
All in surfaced condition, submerged you can use any "shadow" you like anyway.

other:

Dimon vehicle package and new Civilian cars

Vehicle section (the moving kind) has been reordered and cleaned up a bit to make stuff easier to find. It can't be split up. I tried to keep larger groups in the following order:

  - Horses and cavalry
  - Vehicles towing trailers
  - Allied Vehicles: GB, US, RU, FR...
  - Axis Vehicles: German, Italy, Japan
  - The long columns
  - Civilian vehicles, all personal cars, bicycle, forklift... ( -> I found to have this together as a group very helpful in particular)
  - Moving planes and sleds

Bringing more sense and order into these lists is a constant process. So please excuse, it's kind of a constant WIP.

Just to note, that there are new convoys in JTW. Too many changes to list here, but they are detailed in the following guide in BATDOCS:

'JTW Vehicles BAT 4.3 - Notes for Mission Builders'.

Also - a small bonus - a jgsme-enabled mod which converts the SDkfz231 armoured car in WAW to the command version. In other words, from this:

To this:

Download link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/od3j3y1lh4oekq0/SDkfz231_Antenna.7z/file

Simply extract the included folder, place in BATMODS, and use jgsme to enable/disable as required.
