Did you check what the error is in your log? I contributed to the development of this plane using 4.12.2 modact 5.3. and i have been flying this plane since January.
As this mod make use of improved pilots you will need carmasters dll. https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,73601.0.html
The older 2017 dll will work as well

Yeah, I don't get a CTD so the log doesn't seem unusual. But I'm unable to "see" the Ca-135 in QMB. And I do "see" it in FMB, but the mission fails when I try to fly it. Kind of a weird problem. Can you show me exactly the files you are using within the mod file (for 4.12)?

If you are unable to fly a mission for sure the log will show some kind of error so posting your log.lst file will provide additional info then you didn't reply to my question if you are using the upgraded graphic dll.

The class files needed for 4.12 versions are there inside the "com" folder but absence of or wrong class files will immediately cause a CTD so definitely classes are not an  issue as your planes loads and you can see it in QMB/FMB

I am convinced that you are not using the correct graphic dll  from here https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,73601.0.html

Would probably be more simple if the classfiles (47A353142AB9D472, for example) were at the usual place, in the mod folder, instead of in the com folder, I guess... especially when we see that these files with number/letters names (you know : 47A353142AB9D472 file, for example) are in the Classes 409 folder only, but not in the mod root folder. This is because of this uncertainty that I did not install the mod for the moment, waiting for something more definitive.

The hashed class files (the one with the alphanumeric characters) are just in the 409 folder as only older versions such as UP2 or DBW or UP3rc4 without the il-2 selector will need them.

All the relatively recent mod packs that use 4.12.2 and the il-2 selector (modact 5.3, VM pack, BAT, UP3.4) can use the class files in the com folder. No need to worry it is absolutely the same and this is not a temporary feature.

... at first, like Gaston, I was also puzzled by the structure, but I managed to install the plane after some fiddling with the folders/files ...  ;)

Then, although the 4.09 class files are there, and I could load and see the aircraft in the QMB window, the mission freezed upon start, and the log was complaining about missing Fiat 74 .prs files ...  :-[

Well I checked in my UV3 sound mod, and of course I didn't have them, nor any corresponding samples, but I somehow managed to fix all the issues, and all is OK now ...  ;)

Indeed all the Java files in the main folder are a relic of the development and you can just delete them or move them out of the way.

They are useful only if you would like to contribute to the development and in eliminating possible bugs. If you compile the class files using DJ compiler as I do the class will go in the right place inside the com folder and you can use them straight away.

The Fiat 74 prs is the one used by the SAS 10.5 button that is the base for Modact 5.3 and BAT this is why we kept it.
However lacking the prs shouldn't lead to a freeze but just to the plane having no sound when flying  .

My opinion of improvement...tested on 4.12.2m, BAT 4.2 WAW

  1. the tail wheel turn in reverse.
  2. I think it would be better for antenna2 to be located in the center above the fuselage.
  3. It is necessary to increase the position of Pilot4 by 0.02. Because when the canopy is opened, the pilot's sole appears on the canopy.
  4. Engine Exhaust Hook _Engine3EF_01 <BASE>,  _Engine3ES_01 <BASE>,  _Engine4EF_01 <BASE>, _Engine4ES_01 <BASE> does not appear at all.
  5. Positional movement to Bombardier is not normal yet.

Thank you always.

Thank you for your constructive contribution

All the different Antennas of the plane including the circular one for the Radio direction finder are located in the historically correct place confirmed by consulting the original plane manual and archive photos.

Indeed raising the position of the ventral gunner was already on the list of the to do things

I also noticed the lack of the exhaust hooks that is actually causing a bug in BAT 4.3 once you throttle past 95%. As I worked on the development using Modact 5.3 and UP3.4 that have a much quicker launch time I noticed the problem only once the Beta was out.

I don't fully understand the remarks on the bombardier position could you please elaborate more?

From the pilot cockpit by pressing C you access the narrow view bombardier position and the working Italian bomb sight. The controls for the sight are the same as usual and you can choose among three point of view (narrow, normal and large). As far as I can tell the sight is actually working responding to the commands and the instrument panel helps you with the plane controls.

If you use Shift+F1 you will then activate the second camera (CAMERA hook) that has free movement and a wider point of view. This view for the time being has no real use (beside sightseeing). It was prepared in case we would like to add a front gunner cockpit.

Thank you so much I have picked the suggested tail wheel and Pilot4 positions. I am looking into the the best way to sort out the exhaust hooks position

...for the Bombardier position

Mouse or TrackIR doesn't work when I move to Bombardier position. In other words, the screen doesn't move at all.

Mouse or TrackIR only works after pressing Shift+F1 and the screen moves as well.

My thinking is when I go to Bombardier position, their instruments work right away (bombing flying with the stabilizer), and when I press Shift+F1, it's common for a round bombing aimer to come out.

It's just my personal opinion, so just refer to it.
