Test Runways not showing up in FMB
« on: March 12, 2025, 12:42:31 PM »

Okay this is now officially a mystery !
I now have the same FMB problem occurring in two different installs from
2 different sources.

v4.12.2 clean and v4.13.4 clean

Problem :
Test Runways 4 , 5, 6 Fail to show up as translucent red planes in FMB.
The take off point icon for each object DOES show up in both , but no
Runway Strip Test Runway 4
Runway Rectangle Runway 5
Runway Square Runway 6
This of course suggests the error is because of files supplied by me into
the install , which are limited to my otherwise functioning config.ini ,
and my Users File Folder.

Any help appreciated.

Some considerations...

If the ground is not level, the red transparent layer will disappear 'underground.'

At some zoom levels, the transparent layer will disappear but the landing/takeoff symbols will appear.

Good zoom level:

It may not be clear from the screen shot, except for Runway 6, the ground is not perfectly level so there are gaps in the transparent layer.

Poor Zoom level (same map and layout as previous screen):

Yes thanks von , I get this , but my issue is not that.
Even if I set the Test Runways on the ocean in order to see and orient them clearly , they are not visible ,
except for the takeoff/landing icon.

I am wondering whether it may have to do with these two setting lines from the config.ini :
PolygonOffsetFactor=-0.15
PolygonOffsetUnits=-3.0

These values are , as best I can recollect , the same I have used for years ( though this config.ini
is NOT from that install on another machine which I do not currently have access to.

If I don't get more definitive advice , I may start to monkey with these to see what happens.

Any words from above would be appreciated.

Do you use BAT?

I have a similar problem with some objects (f.e. sandbag walls).
The object icon appears in the 2D view, but no model in 2D or 3D.

I know this doesn't help, but at least, you are not alone. :)

No , not in BAT.
4.12.2 and 4.13.4  clean installs.
I'll check the sandbag objects and get back to you.

I can confirm that test runways 4,5, and 6 are visible in 4.13.4.

No mods in this installation.

For future reference and for anyone following this thread now that this problem has been resolved you might want to update this thread Kopf.
Even though you did mention this problem had been resolved in your thread at M4T I am still not quite sure what it was that you did that fixed your problem.  8)
