DM for RM Littorio class BB
« on: March 19, 2025, 03:24:04 AM »

Hi to all!
First of all, I would like to thank gunny0134 for creating this topic https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,73762.msg801462.html#msg801462, and Asheshouse for creating this wonderful pack of Italian ships https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,64093.msg705345.html#msg705345.
The damage model topic also interested me. Here is a link to my attempt to make a DM for the Littorio class battleships.

Tested in 4122m + SASmodact and 4101m + SASmodact

https://www.mediafire.com/file/jemdddx73fdu0dk/Littorio_class%252BDM_v.0.2.7z/file

The archive contains only the Littorio class battleships and the ini files are corrected only for them (the class files are preserved for the entire RM pack).

Initially, the DM was not applicable to the new model from Asheshouse, since the number of grids was maximum and did not allow adding damage grids. Note that there are much fewer boats and bots on the deck than there should be. That is, if I understand correctly, even the author was forced to abandon the full set of boats so that "Rome" could be installed in the game.
I read somewhere that the number of AA guns on the "Littorio" and "Vittorio Veneto" was less than on the later battleship "Roma". Anyway, this is for the period before 1942. So I decided to remove some of the AA guns from the two early battleships. Also, I removed some small, in my opinion, "unnecessary" parts, which allowed me to add boats to the early battleships, as well as add damage meshes. I added the changes to the armament in the ini file.
Of course, I took the simplest skins and "painted" bullet holes on them and darkened them a bit. So now the model has DM for the ship's hull, main caliber turrets and for some of the ship's superstructures.
At this point, I think it's still better than nothing. I also added a plane on a catapult for all battleships of this type and added an anchor on the starboard side for the battleships "Littorio" and "Vittorio Veneto"...
Now, the battleships have, albeit minor, but still, visual differences.

It seems that this is all that has been done so far, if I have not forgotten anything, of course...
I specifically made this VIP and a separate topic, if this is suitable for someone, then perhaps someone will want to remake the skins, including for the damage model.

With best wishes!

Thank you very much !!

I never imagined my small attempt would return to such a good and great repercussion.

Now users have three perfect RM Littorio class battleships.

What's left is to see them sail freely across the Mediterranean Sea in the campaign.

PS : they work well on 4.12.2m, BAT 4.2 WAW.
